I thought the last two posts were both on the money actually.
Such is the pace of the modern game, the physicality of it is a science these days.
When Big Mick talks about nutrition and raising fitness, he's spot on. They need stamina. They all need to be able to play 80 and then have enough energy for another half of at least satisfactory level.
But they also need freshening up. There bodies are getting smashed regularly, and that takes it toll too. Surely there is a happy compromise? Recovery exercises, diet etc, legal drugs that can help.
I havent done any independant analysis of the 2006 workload. Obviously some positions require more tackling effort or particular games may give rise to extra efforts as opposition teams hammer different players (areas). Theres a lot of variables to factor in to players performances.
I think Gowie will return somewhat pensive from his injury and wont be able to find his best rythmn for quite some time. He will survive until then, I just hope he doesnt get smashed too badly and nothing is aggravated as he will be sorely needed.
I think its admirable that people are looking closely at next year now. The off- season is critically important. Moreso for the Panthers this year.
Time is ticking away, by winning 03 you created a monster in terms of expectations. A rod for your back in some ways.
But the fizzling out this year, it was heartbreaking for some.
One of my panther friends was very angry. He held the players wholly acountable and it was unnacceptable. He critcised Pritchard, Clinton, Wesser, Hookey,The House. He thinks Trindall is ordinary.
He spoke highly however of Priddis, Campbell, Flash and Rooney.
He wants Wing and he wants him now.
He thought Elliot was unneccesary and he would have kept Lang.
Each to their own I suppose.
