How many games before you ditched Fox?

Just out of curiosity, how many here have FOX soley for the NRL? And if the NRL sign a deal with a FTA network - or perhaps 2 or even 3 - meaning nothing for FOX, would you then get rid of FOX?

Probably not MR

I watch NCAA Football, NFL, EPL and NBA on Foxtel. Also watch movies and the misses has her girly shows. With ONE now going the way of general entertainment and dropping some of there sport content, I cant see my self dropping Fox all together.

Plus HD NRL is the best thing since sliced bread. SD or even a crappy internet stream just doesnt cut it anymore..

Although NRL is a major factor, I have Foxtel for other reasons as well. I enjoy watching most other sports, I like the music channels on weekends, I watch the odd movie, I like some of the entertainment channels and I even enjoy the odd Doco.

So for me NRL content would have no bearing on my decision, I would keep it anyways.

I actually complained about that one. I counted 25 minutes. What the f**k were they thinking. Another game on fta combined with another price rise would tempt me to cancel. I cancelled fox sports over the summer but only lasted about a week once the season started so I will be hard to quit. I'd but a league channel instead of all of fox sports.

If the news is from the melbourne studios its not worth watching as its pretty hopeless.

NRL has its highlights on youtube they are usually up pretty quick.

NRL is the only reason we have Fox, because I like to watch every game every week. The missus likes the other stuff on Fox 8 or whatever but she knows the score - no NRL = no Fox.

I wouldn't panic,Fox needs rugby league like Warne needs a nookie. The last thing that media organisation wants is a massive churning rate ,losing rugby league customers by the 10s of thousands ,huge drop in ratings and advertisers saying WTF.
As long as I get the 5 NRL live on Fox or 6 if there is expansion,I will retains my subs.
However if that mob rips rugby league off again, on the next TV contract ignoring the huge Pay TV ratings,I may have second thoughts and p*ss them off.

I wouldn't ditch it because I still watch EPL, La Liga, Champions League, cricket, NBA, Socceroos and movies, history, documentaries etc...

Don't have foxtel and live in Melbourne...

I would love to even have one game live on FTA.

So if the NRL say stuff you too Fox and sign only with a couple of FTA stations - I doubt they would - what would happen to fox? Loose some subscriptions. Loose their top rating sports in the country.

So overall, would that have an instance effect and drive up subscription price straight out? Maybe not short term. Maybe not at all. So how dependant are Fox on getting RL?

If the NRL play real hard-ball, maybe Fox will have no choice to perhaps get close to the deal they gave the AFL.

I have a good feeling about the next deal if the NRL do it right. $1 billion shoudn't be problem. Mark my words. Nice pun I know.

The issue is more so those that can barely afford it. Yes there are plenty of good things on Foxtel, but RL is clearly its main drawcard. As families start to pay more expenses, they will evaluate the luxuries like Foxtel, and while 5 games plus its current content may be worth it, 4 games or 3 games of nine and it suddenly becomes a less attractive price.

I havent had Foxtel for a few years and quite frankly, now with the internet, the only part of it I really miss is the footy.

I have no doubt that League would only have to take 1 or 2 games away from fox for them to shit themselves.

I haven’t converted over to HD on Foxtel cable. I’m on the basic package with sport. I really only watch NRL games on Foxsports and few other shows. I pay about $60 a month and I think that is too much for what I want. If there was no NRL Super Saturday or Sunday afternoon “Live” games, I would get rid of it in a heartbeat,

I can't see that happening. They might lose 1 from the 4 Saturday / Sunday games & possibly Monday Night Football, but that'll be it. MNF is like Origin to them & the interest from FTA channels will probably ensure the price is jacked up.

As mentioned previously here, some other good sport plus I watch music & movie channels to make it worthwhile. At least we have more choice these days for those who prefer internet.

Put this way:

If I could get a TV/Internet bundle that offered all the NRL games and a selection of channels - including movies, general entertainment, docos and a few other sport selections (as FetchTV does and will expand) - and if that TV/Internet bundle was cheaper than my current Foxtel & Internet - would I drop Fox?

Because 2:1 that is what's going to happen.

I have Foxtel IQ and its one of the best things to happen.

There's time where I want to watch a program but is listed at a bad time. So recording it and watching it later at a decent time eg. Super League on Ch 9, really suits me.

Plus theres great coverage of sports on Fox Sports and lets not forget SkY Racing.

Apart from sport, I enjoy some movies and entertainment programs. And their 24 hours news program is great.

So I will never ditch Foxtel even if Rugby League loses coverage (which will never happen).

I would never drop foxtel because I want access to international sport. It's still sub par as far as coverage in this country and I have to watch a lot of poor quality streams but would I get rid of it? No.

I just watch NRL, EPL, Cricketetc that aren't on fta online. I wanted to subscribe to foxtel but they don't let you subscribe to the sports channels only, you have to get a basic package aswell, f**k that.
