How many weeks for Graham

I think a lot of the anger about this comes from their being so many rule changes that so many fans don't know the current rules of the game
10 years ago this wouldn't of been a penalty. Charging down kicks at the kickers legs wasn't illegal and many players did it. Steve Price was the master at it and probably done about 20 of these a year and was praised for doing so. Then about 7 or so years ago scott prince got injured by one of these attempted charge downs, then Darren lockyer got injured in a similar way a week later leading to wayne Bennett having a big cry about it. This led to a crusade to protect the kickers legs and brought about the rule change we have now. We haven't had many people stupid enough to dive at peoples legs in the last 7 years that when it finally does happen not many people know about the rule change

If Graham doesn't carry on like he did after he tackled him, the game goes on & no penalty is given as the play has continued, like a similar circumstance in a game last week or the week before (Titans / Knights?) when the refs said play had progressed & they couldnt act.

I think Graham was dirty that his concern for Reynolds after an accident cost them the game....doesn't excuse his carry on though.

Probably would have gone back and looked at it anyway, given he was down in the middle of the field

Correct decision made on all counts, commentators embarrassing because they don't know rules, and Dogs fans just pathetic, really pathetic

I think the intent thing is relevant to the charge, couple of weeks I imagine, clearly wasn't Graham's intention but reckless

How is there even any debate about this? Graham hit the kickers legs which is illegal. Intention doesn't change this.

It's illegal because of how easily it can cause serious injury, and in this case it did cause serious injury. Foul play on a field goal kicker is a penalty in front of the posts and taking out a kickers legs is foul play.

Graham is smarter than most people who watch the game, everything he does is with intent . . . should've been born 60 years ago

Will Channel 9 admit their appalling lack of understanding of the game.

You could clearly hear the ref talking about why it's ruled that way and where the penalty would be on the audio.

Yet Gould and Co couldn't hear it over their egos and were making outrageous statements like "is this even a penalty"

I think the NRL should ban James Graham and his children and his children's children, for three months.

This x 1000.

It's embarrassing how out of touch they are with the rules...

And another thing that pissed me off. A controversial finish to a big game like that and they cut immeadiiately to the news .. No time to recap or take anything in or player interviews etc...

When the commentators said "Ray, you're the rules expert", I knew we were in trouble

They have news scheduled @ 6. Since the live game with the 4pm kick offs started, they have run into their news slot every time.

Over 2 hours to complete what should effectively be a 90 minute game shows how many stoppages there are these days.

So start it earlier to allow a ten minute wrap up.

Might even give them a chance to squeeze a few more ads in..

Strip him of captaincy immediately and give him maximum weeks, he carried on like a absolute wanker that whole game.

The Dogs will go nowhere with Graham as captain. He's such a good player but simply cannot keep his head under pressure and has a detrimental effect on his team. Players like him are better off leading by example then having cooler heads physically drag them away when they start screaming at the ref.

Hearing him justify it in the press conference just sounded like an answer he has given 1000 times before about emotion and heat of the moment.

I take these reports with a grain of salt. Some clubs like the Panthers are notorious for trumping up injuries incurred by players in an attempt to have players suspended.

You are talking about Snowden kneeing Docker in the face a couple of seasons back I presume. Of course you should be allowed to knee opponents in the face anytime you want. What happens is that club doctors make a preliminary diagnosis at the time and then they do x-rays, scans, etc on a working day. In this case, the club doctor believed Docker had a fractured cheekbone but turns out he didn't. I'm not sure how a club gets any benefit from a longer suspension for a player from a team they've just played. Having said that I think its very likely that Cleary wanted the review panel to look at the incident, which had gone unnoticed by the refs but not the TV callers.

Snowden got 2 weeks for kneeing an opponent in the face, would have been 1 week except for his record. Lenient in my opinion, but they did throw the book at him a couple of weeks later when he came under notice again. Thankfully, Snowden now seems to have got the garbage out of his game, amazing what a nice long stretch can do. Having done that, he's now one of the better props in the game and a much more valuable player to his club.
