How the Warriors can make it to the Grand Final

After 42 odd minutes on Sunday, I turned off the tele and got myself into summer mode. Have not missed a warriors match this year. I'll start doing some gardening and getting ready to go to the beach on my sunday arvos. Take the missus for a walk.....be a while I know in Wellington but hey.

They will not make it and don't deserve to make it. They've had a crack, they just arn't good enough, full stop.

5-6 teams would ensure that good teams get to the playoffs - teams 7+ are usually pretty shit tbh

I reall hope they don't make it.
They don't deserve to.

Even though undoubtedly we'd be canon fodder, I really hope we do make it.
Give the likes of Laumape, Fusitua, Tomkins, Matagi, Ikahihifo, Hurrell etc a taste of NRL finals footy.
It can only be a good thing, even if we get spanked, they'd be better for the experience

No. More to do with them defending themselves by saying " Well, we made the 8".

They don'r deserve it and I will be most surprised if they get in the 8.

Its a moot point, no way they will make the 8. No way they will both the next two matches.

Being a warriors supporter is a nightmare. Can't wait till there is another NZ based team, I'll be on that bandwagon in a second.

You cannot say "no way." It is a real possibility. I am sure that the Warriors can spank the Titans. If the Eels should lose to Newcastle (which would be a form reversal) then the Warriors will have huge motivation to beat Penrith and could do it.
I don't think that the Eels will lose to Newcastle, but Newcastle have beaten both the Roosters and the Storm recently. So it will be a very interesting next two weeks, and the Warriors have a chance if they keep their heads screwed on.

If there will be another NZ based team I am sure that the Warriors will benefit enormously from having the local competition.

What's with the circle jerk hate for this guy? I've seen his posts in the main forum and he seems like a legitimate Warriors supporter, so he should be allowed to post here without being berated.

You are correct about me being a legitimate Warriors supporter. However they are my second team after the Roosters. So I am dreaming of a Roosters vs Warriors Grand Final.

I always watch the Warriors games on TV and I am a huge fan of Shaun Johnson, and a strong fan of Konrad Hurrell, and a fair fan of Sam Tomkins. I liked the Warriors before Shaun Johnson arrived, but he has intensified my support for them.

good luck with the dreams: problem is one of your two teams is pretty much rubbish, and doesn't have the talent or aptitude to make the GF - unfortunately that's my team, over hyped, under delivering...

Fair point, I guess the season could be justified as successful if we manage to slip into the 8. I don't think anyone would have argued that after the Sharks game in round 5. For longer term success and shaking things up, it probably is better if we miss out. But I'm selfish, and I love the build up and excitement of having the Warriors involved in finals footy, even if they have no chance. So I still want them to make it. We are inconsistent enough that we could get through the first week or two. Wouldn't fix any longer term issues, but I'm an addict for the quick fix of excitement.

I don't think it will matter though, Eels should account for the Knights and Raiders and its basically good night no matter what we do.

Oddly enough if we somehow snuck in I get the feeling we might pull off an upset or two
Backs to the wall with nothing to lose is when we often seem to fire

But I don't see us sneaking in

Eels vs the Knights will be the critical game next weekend for determining 8th place. It will affect several teams, not only the Warriors.

But having watched both Titans and Panthers last weekend I am sure that the Warriors can beat both of those teams if they apply themselves.

After the round from hell for Warriors, it would be most non-heinous if all of Dogs-Broncos-Storm-Eels-Cowboys falter next week while we chalk up a massive win against the Titans, putting us back in the 8 with 6 teams on 28/30 points vying for the final 4 spots of the 8 in the last round.

C'mon teams with nothing to play for, throw us a freakin' bone!!

The good thing is we only need one of the Bulldogs, Eels or Storm to lose next week (plus us winning) to still have a mathematical chance going into the final round. Surely we can get one upset? Actually, Dogs and Storm losing would be expected this weekend, so hard to see every result going against us again.

I almost wish we didn't play last round 26 so we could possibly be in the 8 for a night or two :(

Newcastle Knights did the deed against Parramatta Eels. So now the ball is in the New Zealand Warriors' court.

The Warriors need to win and win well against the Titans, to try and make up the for and against points difference against Brisbane (in case Brisbane spring an upset against Melbourne at AAMI Park next week, which I do not expect). Then the Warriors must beat Penrith at Penrith, which is doable.

Only a massive slip up will prevent the Warriors from winning tonight, and if that happens then they don't really deserve to be in the playoffs.

Not really. You're overlooking the fact that the if the Broncos win, the Storm become the team we would overtake, not the Broncos - currently only 12 points difference between us, and 3 games to make that up (given that the Storm would have to lose, and we would have to win twice). If it comes to that, points differential shouldn't be a problem.

Regardless of any other results, we must win both games. If we do, we'll make the finals, if not then we won't. It really is as simple as that - yesterday's fantastic results put the power for finals football back in our own hands.
