How To Manipulate a Result

Which other game awards try’s and 5 minutes later it’s taken away…The game has become a joke with the sin binning of players, no other Sport that manipulates results like the NRL …Thanks for destroying whatever love I had for this game Vlandys…
The game is nothing like it was, at start of season I mentioned the play the balls, they are a joke.\

Let's start a crackdown this game 1 next season but Vlandys will not have it, as those games are in Vegas, heaven forbid there are penalties in the game.

The drop out rule which is a joke now, it doesn't help the attack by forcing a drop out.

Every year another rule which takes us further away from the game we grew up with, they don't care about us anymore we are the wrong demographic, I can see them moving to quarters not halves next.

And also the half time break it has always been 10 minutes now, its around 15 again Vlandys doesn't care

The 4-0 ruck infringements for the game says it all, multiple times a Sharks player had been tackled, got up to play the ball and was shoved back down, nothing…

But the biggest clue to how he was reffing was when Hazelton bullshit penalty occurred, he was discussing with SJ and others on why it wasn’t a sin bin. Was having a good chat and explaining everything.

Short time later heard him saying I won’t be discussing or explaining that decision to you, obviously to a Sharks player after a call went the Warriors way.

Clear bias and that’s not even looking at him patting the Warriors player on the back after they scored.

If Cutlet gets an NRL game next week he must have inflammatory photos of whoever appoints the refs.

The only positive I could think to take out of last night is that this clown will be nowhere near a finals match.

Can we talk about the Nicho try for a sec. The player apparently impeded still had a defender between him and Nicho. Pretty much meaning no player was impeded. How is it that no one else picked up on this.

It is a BS penalty, but it has been ruled that way all year. I called it would be pulled back as soon as it happened.

Hunt should have known enough to keep moving through the line.

Frenzy.

They've that penalty when blokes are 3 defenders and 10 metres away. Cleary was awarded one recently. It's the players that are dumb. Just run all the way through the line and give them nothing to penalise.

Yep, said it to the wife as soon as I saw the replay.
Royce takes two more steps and it’s a non issue.
Stupid error.

When Iro took DWZ out over the sideline just before he was binned, you could clearly hear Butler telling the players, “it’s a play the ball.” Which indicates neither he nor the touchies saw anything bad in the tackle.

Butler was ready to play on.

But no, the bunker has to interfere. It makes a mockery also of him saying there’d been repeated high tackles. He was ready to play on, the thought of a sin bin never entered his head, it was the bunker that told him to send Iro to the bin.

I am not one to normally criticise the referee system but it was a downright stitch up on Saturday night.

They hate to give a decision that curtails a teams momentum when they’re coming back into a game - they prefer to keep giving decisions that favour momentum. You saw it with the Roosters game too - Roosters were on a roll, and they just kept giving them decision after decision.

Even yesterday Horsborough was smart enough to keep running through the line.
It's not rocket science go through the line, I would take it they do this in training

Look at the big picture,
The NRL now don't have to have the ongoing melodrama in the media about playing a semi-final at Shark Park.
Plus they'll get the SFS in for a few games after the first round of finals.
They're happy.

Red text = Sharks infringement
Green text = Warriors infringement

8 rulings in 20 minutes.
2 of them the Sharks way.
That's just on the surface.
Then look at when they are awarded.
I'd have to double check but I seem to remember most of the Warriors were gifted late in the tackle count.l
That is how you get a side back into the game.
Thank you DJDL
After watching the replay I thought.
Chris Butler looked very uneasy at times during the second half.
I know it’s policy not to complain after the game but it looked wrong.

Butler is out of his depth imagine if the Badger was doing the game.
We would have lost still someone would have been marched though for saying something

I would have thought that after the past 2 seasons, the Sharks management would have happily taken a "home semi final" to the Paddington Football Stadium, had we been in that position, so more fans could attend.

Posted this in the game day thread, but it probably belongs in here too...

Comments from Andrew Johns:

Andrew Johns calls for NRL to fix farcical penalty problem

Immortal Andrew Johns spoke for every rugby league fan when he called on the NRL to crack down on the crackdown. Joey, like many of us, is angry and frustrated over the explosion of sin-binnings and penalties for high shots, with many players opting to stay down and milk the situation after barely being struck.

He also feels the whistleblowers are nit-picking at the ruck, leading to constant stoppages and a subsequent lack of flow to games. He believes Cronulla was a major victim of the crackdown after going down to the Warriors by two points on Saturday night.

"I've got to say, the officiating in this game…they're talking about having a summit at the end of the year about how they referee and the bunker – it needs to be done tomorrow before the semi-finals," Johns declared.

"We cannot let the referee impose on the game like (Saturday night). The referee decided who won the game, without a doubt. The game had been being officiated great (for most of the season) but it's felt like the last couple of weeks the referee and the bunker have been imposing so much. Stay out of it. It's really frustrating."

The ultimate question and as polarising as hell.
Put it this way, if they place a semi final at the SFS - I’ll happily go. Regardless of the odds against them.
Shark Park - forget it. Can’t think of a positive experience at the dump in recent years.
No club, no transport, no heart. Imagine experiencing another semi final loss and walking the fugg up woolooware road to who knows where for a post bevvie.
Before anyone arks up, think of the last two semi finals.
Can’t see myself renewing my GA ticket till 2026 or whenever the club gets back up and running.

I can't stick up for the ground anymore, it's a dump. Before they packed in apartments and hotels 3 centimetres from the sideline I had hope that it could have been improved slightly but now there's zero that can be done with it.

Just hurry up and sell it off for apartments which has most likely been the plan since day one and get on with wherever the hell we're going to play in the future.
