How well will Souths do in 2012

IF souths can keep their players on the field for most of the season and especially the backend of the season then they should be top 4 . If their halves are working well by finals time , then a Grand final .
Most premiership winning teams have had a reasonable year with injuries and especially the backend.( think of Manly injury situation in 2011 or Saints in 2010).

I was also getting the deja vu feeling, but I think it's because Bunniesdud said the exact same thing last year, except replace the name Reynolds with Inglis, and Maguire with Lang
f**k off. Go find one post where I said anything similar about Lang. And besides, last year wasn't Langs first year. I knew he was a dud.
Inglis' deal was $1.8 Million. Can someone help NewcastleRabbit out with the maths?

"Souths co-owner Russell Crowe boasted about the $1.8 million deal to an audience of millions on US television's Tonight Show with Jay Leno last month."

Yes but not 600k of the cap. There are 3rd party deals.

I'd say he's about 450k under the cap.

i'd recommend that they let them off the field to at least sleep..

and maybe shower.

Dear Tom Shines, It's sweet how you try to endear yourself to the LOL@Souffs brigade. A little pathetic, but cute at the same time.

Absolutely. I find it more pathetic than Bunniesman's escapades to be honest. But if he wants to be liked so badly it does at least seem to be working.

i got this: (from 8th november 2010...)

Let's not forget Lang, unlike Smith, has won a grand final. The bloke got an injury ravaged team to one game away from a final. And a second offseason and another season will help a lot of our problems

oh yeah, and whilst we are on the whole 'bunniesman and coaches' topic...

Bennett will be a Rabbitoh in 2012. Trust me. He might even announce it before the season starts.

13th, with Sutton at five-eighth Adam Reynolds will need to be the second coming of Dally Messenger, Andrew Johns, Daniel Mortimer and Billy Rogers if Souths finish above their treasured ninth position.

So, will one South's supporter tell me where the value is in spending so much each year on Inglis?

Well as the greatest player who has ever lived I think G.I should have been given a blank cheque by Rusty, and told write whatever amount you want on there

Looking at what is being posted about Maguire, I'm getting a gnawing sense of deja vu - see Stephen Kearney 2011.
Unlike Kearney though Maguire does have experience coaching first-grade.
According to Eels fans though they didn't have a full squad worthy of the NRL so Kearney hasn't had a chance to prove himself

I think Souths will have a real strong season in 2012 and my reasons for this are outlined below:
  • Adam Reynolds will take the NRL by storm. He will be on par with Daly Cherry-Evans in terms of ability and controlling the play.
  • John Sutton will finally realise his potential and lead the Rabbitohs around the park. His consistent efforts will lead to a push for SOO selection.
  • Greg Inglis will demonstrate why he's the best centre in the NRL hands down by terrorising opposition lines in attack and defence.
  • Nathan Merritt will be the top tryscorer in 2012 from fullback.
[*]Issac Luke will get suspended for a hefty part of the season, but this will lead to the emergence of Nathan Peats who will lock down the hooker position at Souths and will tighten their defensive line.
  • Their forward pack won't suffer the injuries they copped in 2011 and will provide a formidable platform for the halves to weave their magic.
  • The Maguire Factor. Souths will be capable of scoring points while their defensive lapses will become a thing of the past.
My prediction is they will finish sixth.

I know you trolling and all, but I would not be that shocked to see this eventuate. Peats is making big waves at Souths, and if Maguire is to be believed that he picks players on form and not name then Luke may not find a starting spot at hooker.

I think they will finish around 6-10th easily. Maguire is a great coach and Beallyache has instilled some great qualities in this bloke. I have seen his english club trot around and they do show Melbourne-like qualities. After round 10 if they are not in good position they will probably fall away, but i think they can win 7 of their first ten. just a feeling. their round 16-21 games are very important, this is their glory bound rounds really, if they can pull through and not die out then maybe, just maybe, Souths could win their 21st title.

But peats must be hooker!

I make no apologies about being a realist, rather than flog myself silly about how good our chances are this season, and how this is our year, just like everyone said before we bombed out in 1996/1997/2002/2007/2010/2011.

Unfortunately the last 25 years of supporting Souths has made me bitter — so they way I look at it is if you don't laugh, you'd surely cry.

...and I think if more Souths fans actually had a realistic expectation of our standing as a club and ability as a football team, rather than the mongs that shout "twenny premierships" or "merger scum" to opposition fans, there wouldn't have been a need for five threads taking the piss.
