It's silly money, but there's nothing wrong with his T20 record. Ave 20 with Economy of 6.7 in 25 internationals, Ave 24 with economy of 7.7 in non-internationals. He has played seasons in the IPL that people don't seem to have noticed, and can bowl on dead pitches.

Knew he played IPL, didn't set the world on fire there tbh, though hasn't been there since 2017 and has gotten far better last couple of years

Not begrudging him the money if they want to pay that, Kudos.

Don't think Cummins goes anywhere near 3.1M if not for his recent test performances, and the No1 test ranking (he is ranked 30th in t20) . Hope he does well, but better for Australia

How about some of the players of yesteryear that retired before t20, Greg Mathews and Colin Miller would be gods in India :D

Ian Harvey was the one I immediately thought of....turns out he did play some T20 late in his career. Averaged 32 with the bat and 24 with the ball. He'd have been worth zillions if he'd had the IPL going during the peak of his career

Yeh, but the return on investment only partly reflects the player's (expected) impact on team performance. It is dominated by (expected) contribution to marketing and tv revenues. And that's where he comes in big. The #1 thing helps, but so does the fact that he's a tall, fresh faced, good looking white guy who is not a dickhead.

They'll be thinking that they might hit ten sixes in a row and then things will look a lot better? Sorry Baz McCullum, did you really say that? Nice guy though.
