England are really really really bad.
We need to redeem ourselves against India. But, we have a considerable amount of work to do before that happens. Cummins needs to go for the throat and chalk up a 5 zip series against the Poms first before we even think about that.

Michael Vaughan was quite angry today on Fox that the Poms were only represented on the field at the presentation by their captain Joe Root. The rest of the team left the field and were in the dressing room. And Vaughan was right.
This raises two issues.
Firstly, that is the height of poor sportsmanship, one thing I didn't think the Poms were into.
Secondly, it shows a complete disrespect to their captain, who really is the only player carrying this team.
To throw him to the wolves at the Ashes winning presentation in a Boxing Day test is appalling from this group as a whole. It shows the lack of respect they have towards Root as captain, and more so, how team unity has reached rock bottom.
Worst Pom team in my lifetime by far.

Yep it was absolutely pathetic, almost as bad as their form on the field. Totally gutless.

Molested by a Victorian bowler who would not get into a full strength NSW team

You keep believing that.
He bowled beautifully, albeit against a not very good team.
Cummings ended up with a none for. Despite bowling way more overs.
FFS, give the guy some credit.

He was lucky to get a test but he did bowl well, good on him. Cummins bowled as well as anyone and didnt get any. That’s the way it goes sometimes.

Exactly.
Also, I don't expect him to play in Sydney. He was given one job to do and he did it well.

Yep he can live off that performance for the rest of his life.

It will get him a few post retirement speaking gigs at luncheons.

I reckon he will play less then 10 test matches is my prediction.

Why? A quick look at his first class stats shows them to be better than Starc's and about on par with Hazelwood.

I actually rate Vaughan as a commentator he says it how it is.

He can be a shit stirrer with the Aussies on twitter but he does it in a fun way like banter as it should be.

I remember SOK got his 12fer in india when warnie was lambasting selectors on commentary that whole game about picking him.

Warne was trolling Vaughan on twitter afterwards about us flogging India in this match and how quiet he was.

Vaughan then just responded to warnie that he was disappointed the selectors didnt take his advice and leave SOK out and burned him on the way back.

If Starc, cummins and hazlewood are fit they are playing.

Boland is probably 5th in line behind Jhye Richardson.

Boland was picked as a MCG specialist.

We have 3 tours to the sub-contintent next year i doubt he will play in any unless there is an injury crisis.

Horses for course's and I think that philosophy is exactly why he got a game here in the first place. There was a stat recounted by Mark Howard (I think) at some point that showed Boland basically had wickets over the past 8 years on differing MCG decks at an average of 12 and a crazy strike rate that left all other 1st class bowlers for dead. James Pattinson was next best but nowhere near as good as Showland....

yeh I get why he was picked and he did bowl very well, you have to get 6-7, but he'll never do it again, he said he has never had figures like that, not even in the U/12s

He was picked as an MCG specialist, there is no arguing that, however, this was not a typical G pitch, it had 3 mm more grass on it than the usual 8mm of grass on the pitch. This was why the ball was moving so much as there have been many complaints over the years about how the MCG is the flattest pitch in the country.

I thought the poms bowled too short, so the ball deviated too much as was evidenced by Elliots 20 plays and misses and he actually outscored the poms second innings. It was the smarter ones who worked out pitching the ball up that resulted in less deviation hence the batsmen knicked off. Anderson was the only poms to pitch it up constantly.

Boland may go on a few tours and could get a squad selections but at 32 (nearly 33) he may not get too many more chances. He's played 14 ODIs for Oz at an avergae of 45.3 and an economy rate of over 6 so I don't think we'll see him in ODIs again, unless perhaps they are at the G on 11mm of grass.
