Fantastic 100, just shows Langer and the selectors have no f**king idea. 9 100’s in 45 tests. Harris 15 tests and doesn’t look likely. What’s the best the Uncle Langer Will plump for his Potato Harris while Oozie will be left out again.

I think test series should be home and away now.
One test in Australia then 2 weeks later one test in England.
5 test series like that.
Same with India and SA.
Screw the rest of them.
mmm a home and away test series

1st Test in Australia
2nd Test in England
3rd Test in Australia
4th Test in England
5th Test in Australia

One small problem though is the seasons - Summer now in Australia and Winter in the UK- Have to have grounds with roofs than can be closed

You never know though - 4 hour flights from Sydney to London by 2030- further technology could decrease flight times even further.

Could have world sport comps - World Rugby League Comp with teams based in Australia/UK/USA/France/Canada/China/Russia/Germany etc- Football/ NFL/NBA/MLB- Renamed World Football League/ World NFL/World Basketball League/World Baseball League/World T-20 League etc etc

While I see a lot of pie in the sky remarks in your post I think you are alluding more towards a World Test series rather than the Ashes. It has far more chance of working than the home and away, 4 hour plane flights and covered grounds, etc that you are suggesting.
So, here's my thoughts on the concept going forward, and it may not interfere with the traditional Ashes contest.

A World Test series that would be played over the course of a year. The series could be played every 4 years thus allowing traditional clashes between nations to be retained (Ashes for one). Currently there are nine test playing nations. Each nation gets to play every other nation twice, home and away, with a 2-0-1 points system for a win, loss and draw. The host country decides on which ground they play their opponent ( lets say OZ decides to play India at the MCG, England at the SCG, NZ at the Gabba and so forth). This means that all our major cricket grounds get a host game and the same scenario applies in opposing countries for their grounds. Seasonal problems are eliminated as the series can continue to be played during the summer months in both northern and southern hemispheres. Travel costs could also be cut with some smart planning.
Whether there would be a final game between the top 2 teams is open for discussion. Anyhooz, that's my take on it.

very classy and elegant ton from Oozie, hard to believe they scapegoated him for mongs like Wade

hopefully, that's the end of Harris who will never achieve the heights that Oozie has, not to mention we'll need him (Oozie) in Pakistan as he's a much better player of spin

12 test playing nations

Australia
England
Ireland
South Africa
Pakistan
India
Sri Lanka
Afganistan
Zimbabwe
New Zealand
West Indies
Bangladesh

2 Conferences would be the go- Play each Nation in a home and away Test series - minimum 3 test Series for each home and away series - Some countries will play Test series of more than 3 tests such as Australia vs England.

2 points for a series win and 1 point each for a drawn series. (home and away are separate series not counted as 1 series)

Top 2 Nations from the 2 conferences advance to the Semi Finals

Extra time allocated for rain delays or to obtain a result for Finals test matches i.e a 6th day

A) 1 vs 1 - Winner to the Grand Final- Loser to play winner of 2 vs 2 game

B) 2 vs 2 -Winner to Final - Loser eliminated

C) Loser of A vs Winner of B- Winner to Grand Final

D) Winner of A vs Winner of C- Grand Final

Conference A

Australia
New Zealand
India
Sri Lanka
Zimbabwe
West Indies

Conference B

England
South Africa
Pakistan
Bangladesh
Afganistan
Ireland

Ireland, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan aren't really considered as test playing nations in my book, but that's irrelevant to the discussion at this juncture. There are also political issues to be considered between countries that you've mentioned. To me, your proposal sounds complicated and has similarities to an NRL draw. I think more opinions than ours would add considerably to the discussion at this point.

I'm sure Warnie has an opinion on the matter
