Well it is the holiday season. And haven't people been complaining about constant 500+ scores and that being boring?

At least a fast track offers something for the bowlers even if the batsmen can very possibly score a thousand. This pitch is a disgrace so far. An absolute road for a session and a bit and then a lifeless, slow, dead track almost immediately.

Drop ins really are the bane of Aussie cricket

I don't get it. England seem to be doing quite well on it.

Yes. Because it offers zero for the bowlers, like I said...

We had a couple of blokes get out because they didn't judge the pace of the pitch right. The grass has also thinned a bit. The Poms were fielding and saw the pace of the wicket first hand, therefore have judged it better. It's a stinker, it reminds me of some the shameful dead tracks India sometimes prepare, except it won't break up and spin sideways day 4 and 5

But the Aussie collapse was today, well after a session and a bit. Isn't it their fault if they haven't judged the pace right? Or are you saying it changed today?

It's partly their fault for not judging the pace right, partly good bowling, but that doesn't mean the pitch is anything but woeful. The drop ins at the MCG have been pathetic for a few years now.

I hate these drop in pitches but does anybody remember the MCG pitch before they started to use them? Used to roll along the ground on day 4

nah, Baz is right, you watch how quick this pitch deteriorates, its really not test quality

it really shouldn't be two paced on day 2

Is it deteriorating? Josh hazelwood doesn’t think so. He said this after yesterday’s play:

“It was definitely a 400 Plus wicket and it doesn’t show signs of breaking up.”

Who said deteriorating means breaking up?

It already has. Watch day one session one. Compare to today. Easy.

Twizzle said last night 'watch how fast this pitch detriorates' indicating that over the next few days the pitch will go downhill fast. I'll take Warney's (who can actually see the pitch in person) viewpoint over his.

I agree with Twizz to an extent, although I'm not sure it will be quite as bad as he thinks. Again, deteriorating doesn't mean falling to pieces. I reckon Symonds said pretty much what I feel about the wicket last night, it'll be grubbering to the keeper day four and five. Which isn't actually all that unusual for an MCG pitch, the issue is that it's done absolutely nothing and was pretty much a day four pitch on day two.
