I Dont' Like Cricket, Oh No, I Love it, Yeah

Back in the day, I played a 2nd grade game in Coffs, which was held over two weekends. In the top grade, they had appointed umpires who kept the ball that was in use between weekends. In 2nd grade you didn't always have an appointed ump, and the bowling team would 'look after' the ball....and these were f**king two-pieces. Rocked up to bat on the 2nd weekend and one half of the ball looked like it should be on a snooker table and the other half looked like it should be stuck in an s-bend. 'Oh, it's been rolling around in the back of the car' this old merkin said. Normally there was unspoken rule that you pitched it up to this prick. I hit him about 20 times before he retired.

Haha, or the old "new ball in the freezer" trick...zinc cream into the shiny side was another favourite. Drag it across the late summer Canberra outfield as you retrieve it...water on the hands at drinks rubbed into one side to get it reversing.

The stuff inside pocket warmers does interesting things to a ball as well.

Did the leadership group really know or did Bancroft go rogue and Smith covering for him?

Sounds suspicious that he overheard the leadership group talking about it and decided to do the deed....

If the Aussie team weren’t so arrogant and actually were decent sportsman ie constant sledging of other teams etc the reaction may not have been as harsh from within Aus and around the world. But because they have been absolute pricks on the field, they have been nailed and everyone is out to get them. And rightly so. They deserve every thing they get for their cheating and utter arrogance.

The one that I will say for him is that they could have just hung Bancroft out to dry (which is what usually happens), but they didn't.

I personally don’t think in the press conference he did much to suggest great confidence in him as leader moving forward.
Yeah he came out and admitted to cheating, but he had to, he had been caught red handed by cameras all over the ground.
Should never have happened, but it did and he approved of it before it took place and it’s time to go.
Say whatever you want in a press conference afterwards, but don’t resort to cheating to try and win.

On the cheating scandal it is sad for the 3 people in Australia who are still emotionally invested.

Most people though probably think it couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of f**kwits.

How had Smith been caught cheating by the cameras? Bancroft certainly had. So why does that imply that Smith 'had to' admit cheating. By the way, if you read my posts, right from the start I said Smith has to go....I was just pointing out that at least (in the end) Smith took the rap for it (while throwing a few unnamed team members under the bus). He could have done exactly what the opposition captain (who has been twice found guilty of ball tampering with no suggestion that he be rubbed out) and deny it (though Du Plessis did plead guilty to one of his charges.....he admitted that he knowingly tampered with the ball....the only difference is the method by which he did it).

Lots of booing and jeering in Sth Africa.

Short memories

Vernon Philander, 2014 at Galle

South African pace bowler Vernon Philander was fined 75 percent of his match-fees for digging his nails into the ball in an attempt to tamper it.
The incident occurred during the Test series in Sri Lanka and videos revealed that Philander used his thumb and fingers to roughen up the ball.
Philander accepted the charge and was dually fined for the incident.

Faf du Plessis, 2013 at UAE

Another South African, Faf du Plessis was fined for the same charges in 2013 against Pakistan.
Faf was charged with rubbing the ball into the zipper of his trouser pants to unlawfully roughen up the ball. According to video footage, while rubbing the ball, Faf took it very close to the zipper and hence he was charged.
Faf pleaded guilty and was banned 50 percent of match fees.

Pathetic batting display to top it off.

Heads must roll, the whole senior playing group need a rest and the coaching staff need some pink slips.

That’s what I don’t get. Admittedly what Bancroft was more obviously cheating but it’s not like Saffas are cleanskins. The one you’re missing is the more recent Lollygate also involving du Plessis.
Sunrise absolutely blowing this for all it’s worth. Stick to what you know, like calling for aboriginal children to be taken from their families

Not even close to comparable.

Too even plan to cheat like they did shows how clueless and out of touch this bunch of fools are.

Smith at the press conference sort of thought i’ll Put my hand up and this will all blow over. It shows their arrogance and how out of touch with the public they are.

Didn’t say it was comparable. It was more about the outrage by fans. Hypocrites.

Yes we as a group cooked the idea. New low.
