I guarantee not one person associated with the Bulldogs or Storm gives a shit what you and your several people do on Sunday

That's irrelevent to my point. I'll be watching the game as I do every year. The point is, while it may be great for the 2 clubs playing, it's not great for the game that people find the 2 teams playing so offensive that they'd prefer to do something else than watch the game.

Dogs bring in more viewers than Manly ever would. The storm it's absolutely no contest. As a fan of a club who has pretty much been hated for decades i'm not sure you're really in a position to be making this argument either.

There was no such discussion about large numbers of people refusing to watch the game in 2006-2008 when it was Manly, Melbourne and Brisbane. People watched despite who was playing. I've never seen so many people with so little interest in a grand final. I've got no doubt that almost every member here will watch the game regardless but it's Joe average turning away from the game that tells the tale.

It is because people are petulant and don't seem to understand that the Grand Final is for the best two teams. Bulldogs v Melbourne is probably the toughest GF to predict since 2004.

Yet you're the only one talking about it now. If you don't want to watch, don't watch, no one gives a shit. If your hillbilly mates don't want to tune in to watch the two best teams from this season on the biggest stage, I'm ok with that

I'm on the dirty dogs. No one brings the game into disrepute like the dogs. I wonder
if they will be resurrecting the bulldog bun for the post match celebrations. With
permission of course.

A lot of people are sick of seeing Melbourne Storm get into Grand Finals, and sicker of seeing them win them.

However the general tone around this place seems to be: Melbourne must still be cheating; Melbourne obviously weren't punished enough for when they cheated; Melbourne cheat around the ruck and get away with it; I never liked Slater anyway.

As a neutral I thought the reffing was pretty good. Didn't think there was any difference in the amount of lying around in the ruck both teams did. I thought the Kasiano penalty was cheap, but he was dumb to do what he did.

Next - the salary cap cheating. you'd assume that there would be more scrutiny on Melbourne's books than any other team. When you look at the amazing talent that the Bulldogs bought this year, I wonder how they can get them all under the cap. Ditto with the Titans and their spending. Melbourne get by with blokes like Waqa, Norrie, Lowe, Lowrie, Fa'aoso who weren't rated elsewhere - so no wonder they can fit the big three under the cap.

Lastly, I don't really get the hatred for Slater and Smith. Slater has some form with knees in the back but generally is a clean player. Smith gets called 'dirty merkin' on here all the time but I'd love the people who hate him so much to compile a video showing all these allegedly dirty things he does "in every tackle". Because I'm damned if I can see it.

Anyway, it's a free country and people can hate the Storm stars if they want - but you miss out on a lot of fun. It's a bit like the Joey haters. We need more stars in our game, not less, but part of the culture of our sport seems to be to tear down the best players.

Like everyone else, I'd enjoy seeing a GF next year without Storm in it, but while I reckon Bulldogs fans can be forgiven for showing a bit of rage and grief tonight, all the butthurt supporters of other clubs should get a collective life.

Tbf I think most genuine RL fans appreciate the amazing efforts and ability of the players and coaches of Melbourne.

Melbourne had a few decisions go its way. The knock on against Stagg when it was knocked out springs to mind. But it's all irrelevant because the Storm were too good and were always going to be. The nature of this place, sport and society in general these days is to blame everyone or everything possible for things not going your way. I don't particularly like Melbourne or a lot of their players, but they were the best team in the comp and they were certainly the best team in the GF. I'm sick of the bitching, bad sportsmanship and bias that exists everywhere, especially in RL, and it doesn't matter who wins the comp and how there will always be people who find reasons to whinge, makes excuses, deride the winners and generally bring one of the best days we have down with negativity. It's sad really.
