Why? i think you guys haven't played country before, the finger picking can be quite tricky as well as the speed variations.

Jazz is piss easy, hence why no one plays it anymore lol

I think it was well before the 80's, most of the great artists of the 60's and 70's are rock bands.

And you said it with holes in your theory. Based on that Nirvana outsold all their grunge rivals with Nevermind and influenced most rock bands in some way that have followed. Does that make Kurt great?

Most of the 60's groups were pop or RNB, it was only towards the late 60's/early 70's that hard rock emerged. And even in the 70's? that was predominately a pop era, remember that thing disco? lol

Nirvana were very influential, and kurt was a great songwriter, however as i said the problem with the theory it can contradict itself, but if he didn't sell those albums he wouldn't of influenced others.

Yeah, it was a slightly odd observation Ron - there's no comparison really.

what makes it harder? you tell me?

I really doubt anyone on this board has played the guitar for more then a couple of years, and they predominately play one style.

If anyone had an idea about country you would know that the picking too, chord structures as well as country also can have a significant amount of lead guitar with that 'feeling' associated with it. You like feeling so much country has sh*tloads of it.

Some of the greatest musicians are country orientated.

So someone tell me what makes Jazz so hard to play, interested to hear.........

I learnt some country a few years ago thanks to a mate who wanted to vary up his styles of playing, he gave it a massive wrap and i have to admit i learnt quite alot from it.

haha there's no doubting there's some shyt hot country players

But in the musicianship hierarchy it's predominately just another little league genre. Much like your beloved rock is. The heavyweights will continue to be drawn to jazz, just like they always have. That's not saying other genres don't have some great music and players though.

chord structures
lol nfi....tell us all about country chord structures ron?! ...Country is just about the most diatonic music there is. In fact ... I would say its the most.

Jazz is piss easy, hence why no one plays it anymore lol

I don't play guitar - I'm speaking in reference to drummers ... and there is NO comparison.

Everything from time signatures to polyrythms etc - country tends to be 4/4 and simple as batsh*t.

You know I agree with you on a number of issues Ron but not jazz v country.

lol you didn't answer the question yet again, so i'm hardly going to answer yours.

So you haven't played any country? yet you rubbish it? Tommy and Phil Emanuel were country orientated but i guess they're no good because they aren't jazz orientated right?

What makes jazz so hard again? fmd answer that question! just like you failed to answer my andy summers question!

Is Jazz still alive is it? well there you go:lol: isn't Jack Johnston considered somehwat jazz? lol

And Eddie's style of guitar is played in pretty much ever heavy metal band today, but as self proclaimed music guru you would've known that.

And no John Bonham is the best drummer ever, that is well-documented just like Eddie is the best guitarist ever:p

Drums is different hevy, totally and utterly agree on that, hell even i could play the drums for a band, much like Ringo star;-)

I learnt alot of the Emanuel brothers a while back, Tommy inparticular believe it or not, after that i started listening to some country singers not big names but the stuff was very guitar orientated and it is awesome to learn, learnt alot and incorperated the style a little in my music.

good god!

Tommy Emmanual makes music for the lifts in retirement villages.

BORING!

The Allman brothers would have to be about the closest thing to good guitar in country music....and they are almost rock n roll...in fact????
