In my dreams If we could jag Wishart as a 7 and luke metcalfe as a running 6 then we start to have some great attacking options. Both boys surely must be feeling homesick, and can share bird and hunts salaries
This would be a combo
I would be absolutely overjoyed if we had both Wishart and Metcalfe in our spine as the halves on top of a very improved Sloan at Fullback and Cook/Liddle completing the spine in Hooker rotation. Then we have Suli and Holmes in the centres Tui and Allen on the wings and hopefully RCG and a couple more new forwards and of course the Couchman boys, Su'a, JDB and LKT etc.

He was on Matty Johns today, they were trying to bait him into badmouthing us, or that we axed him or something.. he didnt answer a bar of it thankfully..
MJ sucks he hates St George, I can't stand his mates, one being an Eel, the other being a Rorter, never watched the show, never will watch the show, in actual fact every TV footy shows have been crap , the best footy show is this forum, very unbias, great analysis when it comes to the real important stuff, very entertaining, a mixture of characters and very understanding when our team fails, over a decade of misery 👍.

Thanks 56 to 66.

Boy oh boy I'd love us to be a force again just so that we can give it to those media scumbags like the Johns boys and Anasta etc.

While it would be great to have have some our escaped juniors back we shouldn't fall into the trap of paying overs just because they are former SGI juniors that look good in top flight development systems (ie. Storm). What we should be doing is ensuring we don't let talented junior escape in the future. The Storm are experts at identifying raw talent, hiding and developing them in several different teams in the Qld Cup. They seem to do this without the hyping, pressure and glare of the media spotlight. Also their development is not rushed and when they emerge in the Storm team they are almost the finished article.

Very good points Saints supporter. Me thinks that the Dragons should go a poaching themselves and/or start developing our juniors like how the Storm are.

The Dragons as we know can't keep all of the players that show promise, but they should tie down the cream to decent contracts and salaries commensurate with their age and experience.

For too long we just continue to play the same running on the spot, brainless, robotic players who show no real enterprise like ball skills, off loads, game management, reading the trend of play and weaknesses in the other teams. Just to take the ball up tucked under one arm and head down and charge is not all a player should arm himself with. Many of our forwards, one in particular by the name of Eisenhuth is an example of that. No thought really just take it up and barge as hard as he can. I'd like to see him pass for a change but somehow he lacks skill in passing I think. Same goes for several other forwards.

Use of leg speed and in attack come running onto the ball hard and fast not from a standing start.

The preseason needs better training techniques included. Learn to do things not of the norm that they have been doing for too long that has not been that successful.

I don't have the solutions but surely those paid to work out better ways for us to play with the main aim of course to win should be the ones needing skills themselves.

I feel you'd go well in reserve grade with that halves combo. Who does the kicking? Who does the organising? Who gets us out of trouble? Neither of those players will do it. I get people are just over Hunt, but this is not at all the solution.

Tyran Wishart kicked 40/20 last week, that'll do me as a kicker, he's 10 years younger than BH, he'll grow into the kicking role quite nicely.
I see Tyran becoming a better version of Trent Barrett.

How much money would it take to get Wishart here, and would he want to come. I suppose like all other players what are his priorities in his career. My only concern is when we talk about these players, the fact they have very good players around them makes them look good. We dont have those very good players, so mostly the hard yards would have to be done by him. Are we expecting too much from a young fellow to lead this Dragons side around, would we burn him completely, the Dragons are renown for being coach killers but also for sending players careers into oblivion.

jahrome hughes was a fullback - I see a similar trajectory with Tyran. With his roots / connections to the club and area, it makes a lotta sense as a recruit

Yes that is the problem when players are doing really well especially under the guidance of Bellamy so when they drop out of favour or reach their use by dates etc and end up going elsewhere they are not the same. He has the knack of being able to get his players to play the way Bellamy wants them to as Bellamy is a great studier of the players his recruitment guy gets him. Bellamy can identify the problems his players might have in the way they do things in all aspects of attack and defence - defence being a real big thing for him of the players and he gets them to work hard on their deficiencies. That's why he swears and curses in the coaches box when he sees some players make unforced errors.

I think Wishart feels comfortable in the Storms system and although he hasn't nailed down a full-time one position spot as such he could be quite happy to be understudy for a bit longer and being used as a utility. However, like any one wanting more money, if a fairly decent amount is put in front of him, he might give it a lot of consideration and playing in a position that he prefers might be able to sway him to leave the Storm. Then of course he will be coming from a team likely to win this years premiership and be presented with a ring to a club like ours who as we know don't have the best of things and then he will play the Dragons way.

In recent times, I cannot think of any player that has retired from our club leaving on a high and saying that his career playing at the Red V was a highlight.

I should point out that the 40-20 hit the ground and rolled another 15m to make the distance, I mean maybe it was on purpose but I think he got lucky!

Anyway a lot to play out on this one.. Storm r in the box seat to upgrade and keep him.. especially if they go on and win a g-final together... but I find it all silly, because if they get rid of papaenhausen they can upgrade Faalago & Wishart with money to spare.. and they would still have 2 fullback options.. I reckon they will come to their senses.
