From what I've seen so far, the top 3 teams atm will make the semis.

Then its a battle royale for the last spot for everyone else.

Man I miss the old format.

They said it was about length of tournament etc etc but really it was to get the associate nations out...the 99 world cup was 8 days shorter than this year's, with 2 more teams.

The 2003 cup was 3 days shorter with 4 more teams. 2007 was one day longer with 6 more teams.

I think the balance was right for 2011 & 2015.

2 Groups of 7 teams.

Top 4 go through and its knockout from there. - Quarter Final, Semi Final then Final.

Still early days

Id bank my left testicle on India only making the semis at this juncture..

Kiwis should get there (they always do in recent times) but have beaten who they were expected to and also Poms who are playing like us . Not sold on SA ....just yet.

Id put some on Pakistan making it (my right nut?) India v Pakistan MkII seems right to me, plus another opening ceremony perhaps ?.

I don't think we can make it, has last years home T20 WC feel about it, we will fire up and string some amazing wins when its too late of course..

Aus are so far off the pace it’s not funny, no idea on their batting line up, no idea on the Wicket Keeper and no idea if they keep going in with the same 3 quicks every game. No idea at all really.

12 teams is what I would go with. I like the fact that teams like the West Indies have to fight to make the world cup and miss out if they're not good enough. Also leaves room for the lesser lights.

2 groups of 6. Quarters, semis, final.

An obvious moral victory when you consider the government of Afghanistan. Tony Blair would be very proud.

This is good for us course. Tonight's game is quite desperate. We need a convincing win. Hoping we bat first and the top 4 kick on. Smithy looked very comfortable before that bullshit DRS decision and Marsh is due as well.

I think Inglis is the right man behind the pegs for now, but should have been the man from a while ago. Carey has been cooked for months. Inglis showed what he can do as a finisher in the Pakistan warm up but he looked very much a guy who wasn't expecting to player last game.

We desperately need variation with the ball esp in India, but they haven't picked any. They've backed themselves into a corner there too...who do they drop? Haze is No 1 in the world and Starc is all time. Realistically Cummins is the guy you'd sit out in white ball but he's captain.

The batting is an unfixable because CA are cooked. But there's enough runs there if they select the right 6 from what they've taken over. And in the right order

Beat the Lankans and Pakistan and we are in the top 4 (or sitting outside on NRR) with 2/3 of the top teams out of the way.

Judging by what we’ve seen the 7 chasing teams will struggle against the top 3, so 6-3 might get you in the semis. I don’t think we’ve played well enough to get there, but fortunately we’ve lost games against teams who will beat everyone.
