Idris is a favourite player to watch, along with Lewis, Cooper, Hodges and a few other talented part timers . . . if I was one eyed I wouldn't want any of them in my team

Raider you're not the only one. Whare is a good solid first grader who has become extremely overrated.

Whare is a solid footballer. Needs to remain consistent to become a top tier centre. Idris and Share are both right centres though.

I can totally understand why someone wouldn't rate Whare right up there with the top centres. He's no where near as flashy in terms of foot work or speed as Hodges or Jennings, doesnt have the skillset of Lyon or the monster tackle breaking and fend ability of Idris or Hurrell.
He does have an exceptionam flick pass, great awareness and positioning, a solid grubber, decent pace, a big hit in him and all round great defensive game. He's old fashioned in the sense of he excels at creating tries and chances for his winger. If you look at his try assist stats from last year, you'll start to understand why so many people rate him. Same goes with the World Cup.

Pretty devastating news for us on GC.

By the sounds of things Titans did what they could; if he has a sick mum & she had to live with him up here last season due he's home sickness then for a close knit family its never going to work for either the player or the club. Hope Jamal remembers this & goes easy on us next time we meet!

I see our local rag & AFL mouthpiece the GC Bulletin hasn't hesitated in slinging some mud. Nice bit of unattributed opinion:

IMO,the deal won't end there.

The Panthers are going to have to make cuts on who makes the three junior sides.

I'm not being a smart ass,but I'm sure Gus will make sure that your club gets a fair whack at the best talent left over for the next couple of years.

And BTW,Jennings to return straight back to the Panthers once he has finished with Easts.

When he signed with the Titans for $1.8 million over five years in 2011, the Gold Coast were a different team. They had promised to make him a larger-than-life character away from footy, but financial problems stalled that. Gould also heard rumblings about Idris' desire to come back to Sydney to be closer to his family.
I think Personally its a Great Move for Idris for his Career under a Very Good Coach in Cleary, he will get the Best Out of Him. I would not be Suprised to see Idris wearing again the NSW Jumper.

He is a Col Bentley type of player.Nothing flash, just simply puts the hard yakka in defensively and will be there for Idris to run off him.

Brilliant times ahead for the Panthers.

Idris to run off Whare? They'll be on opposite sides of the field.

Whare is a good thinking footballer who does the little things right, which shows a lot of hard work and preparation for a long time. He moved to Penrith for an opportunity and has come one well. Idris is a natural talent with the potential to go to the top, but apart from the first 2/3rds of 2013, has been inconsistent. His is concerned about his image (hence the f*cking stupid Cindy Brady meets Bob Marley haircut). This shows ego rather than self discipline. He moved to the Gold Coast for the money, and maybe because Folkes pushed him harder than he liked. That said, he was great last year and in patches the year before - I remembering him dominating Tahu and pretty much laughing at him.

I dont know what Cleary can get out of him that Carty didnt. Idris turns as fast as a battleship, and while Carty improved that, he is a physical player without the agility of Hodges and Inglis. Three clubs in, what, 5 years? Clubs tend to keep their gun youngsters even if it means putting up with a load of crap behind the scenes.

Bottom line - Idris was given a rep opportunity, and has taken a few years to slowly develop the maturity and ability to get near another one. A change of club will be a hiccup in that development - at least in the short term. Whare was also given an opportunity, and grabbed is with both hands.

Yet the centre "find" of the last year was Jarryd Hayne. Had Idris did the hard years, got fit, and polished his game back in his Dogs days, it ight have been him in that jumper. Yet, even with the sun setting on Hodges career, and Inglis' centre days numbered, Idris is still behind Jennnigs, Hayne, Josh Morris, and arguably Blake Ferguson, and with good form in the first 2 months of 2014, possibly Blake Ayshford and Chris Lawrence.

Idris is a good signing on paper. Potential 20 test player. I doubt Cleary can improve him, and the best they can hope for is maturity and consistency. I'm just curious as to why such potential has been allowed to leave two clubs so easily, given the sh*tfight over the likes of Dugan, Barba, Milford, Ferguson and a heap of others.

To me, Idris maybe Sandor Earl with a different haircut. And I do find it odd that they sign him a year after dumping Jennings.

Hes not flashy in terms of tryscoring so I can see why you havent noticed much from him.

When you watch him play every week you see what a quality centre he is.

Lol yeah after what 6 years in the top grade?

He may of debuted 6 years ago but he spent 5 years stuck behind a very good backline(every player played rep footy at some time i think?) he was never one part of your full strength backline, rather he was used as cover for injuries.

Don't be pissy, its just my opinion, f**king scum.

Wish I'd written that . . . profound indeed
