Apparently, the contact was A LOT, like basically systematically coaching through email and phone.

Talked recruitment, gameplans, everything.

Flanno was dumb, probably thought if he's not there he's fine but that wasn't the terms of the suspension.
Your not getting what’s really going on here

This is where I think I differ. I don’t think Flanno was dumb apart from the abysmal effort at covering his tracks. I believe he deliberately went against the rules imposed on him out of arrogance.

Regardless of arrogance or dumbness, he is done

Ok so now can we move on?

And we’ve been fined for the part of the club in that, and most likely Noyce and Mooney would be in the same shit if they were still in the game.
Except it never would have come to light.

The nrl is a game. The salary cap is a game. Everyone bends / breaks the rules and blind eyes are turned unless you wrap up wrongdoings in a big bow for the nrl.

It’s all very unfortunate and I think baz has made a grave tactical error and there’s no winner, except the other clubs. Baz could have stamped his moral authority on the future and drawn his own line in the sand without opening Pandora’s box. Tough guy toddy sweats on this stuff from the likes of us.

But regardless, I dont get why we need to demonise flanno, he was a product of his time in a club culture of his time. I wish him all the best.

Hang on
Now it’s his fault the emails weren’t deleted from the Sharks server?
He wasn’t even there.
He wouldn’t have even be able to delete anything from his end.

The dumb merkins sending them from the Sharks office should’ve covered their tracks.

To be fair, Barry did his job and took what he found to the Board. Taking to the NRL was rubber stamped by the Board

No. It’s his fault he decided to continue recruiting, coaching and whatever else he did.

Yeah, but once things go the board it’s a bouncing ball that can’t be stopped.

I get it, baz didn’t want to take a possible hit on this personally if eventually found out, and it went from there. I probably would have done the same out of fear to be honest...but I wouldn’t apply to be ceo either.

Anyhow, good luck Flanno. I hope you can at least get the timeframe set at a reasonable period. Thank you for delivering our first premiership. Just like the boys in that side, you will always be appreciated for that.
England beckons. He’ll do well over there then he can return to the nrl down the track.

There's a bigger issue here that nobody has mentioned:
- Broke the rules by using peptides / horse drugs / whatever = Sharks came 4th last
- Broke the rules by coaching the team via. email = Sharks came last

We really suck at cheating. At least Parramatta won the Nines when they cheated.
