Our situation may be unique however there has been incidents in the past where punishments haven’t been as severe as what we seem to cop ie Bellamy had no idea about the Storm salary cap rorting?
No doubt he knew. He’s smart enough to leave no proof. Nrl went through their shit just like ours. No proof no ban.

Lol ok.

Flanno - dodgy merkin who cost us millions and got caught out clearly breaking rules of his suspension. Did wonders in 2016.

Carney - drunk who deserved to be sacked but was sacked in the incorrect way which left the door open for legal action.

Plenty of shades there.
There you go.
Flanno - did wonders in getting us to our first ever comp win. Is a dope on procedure and not the sharpest tool in the shed but has just wanted the sharks to be competing with the big guns. Doesn’t have a resources club with nouce to protect him from his shortcomings.

Carney - a bloke who shat all over us in our darkest time as our highest paid player. I can almost forgive that as a doofus who can’t help himself, but then ambulance chased for a payout on a technicality.

I know where my sympathies lie.

You think Flanno didn’t know? He would have every detail, he did not need to read newspaper articles that offer vague comments on what he could and couldn’t do. Article on fox even states he met with the integrity unit throughout 2014 and reaffirmed he had not been in contact. He knew.

Of course he had been in contact he negotiated a new contract

I don’t doubt it, he is an idiot, but it’s confusing for the average punter when the NRL say he is to have no contact, but in a presser we say we are supporting him and Barry has had several phone calls with him on the day he is suspended. As someone pointed out earlier, what now another frigging fine?

Does Flanno need resources to know how to follow his suspension guidelines?

Yes. He’s a dope, but an excellent coach for our club.

He doesn’t need a club (his employer) that actively encourages contact. The sharks could have shut him down at first contact.

And maybe baz would have, but he wasn’t here in 2014.

Yes if they are grey

What part about negotiating a coaching contract wouldn't involve ,squads, recruitment, retention, support staff ?
They are grey to us. Not grey to those involved. He did not get the details of his suspension from the Tele ffs.

And we’ve been fined for the part of the club in that, and most likely Noyce and Mooney would be in the same shit if they were still in the game.

Yep

So who will I be coaching, who are you signing, what resources and support staff will I have

No ah ok yeah I'll take the job and turn up in january, don't worry about the details it's not important

I’m sure he was well aware of what he was allowed to discuss. He met with and lied to the integrity unit mid 2014 about contact. Contacted an agent re Austin. He knew all the rules. He just chose to break them.

Was he told not to talk to player managers or Sharks officials ?

Apparently, the contact was A LOT, like basically systematically coaching through email and phone.

Talked recruitment, gameplans, everything.

Flanno was dumb, probably thought if he's not there he's fine but that wasn't the terms of the suspension.
