I don't know where you get your info from but from what i understand DA didn't want him and made that call accordingly.

I am sure I read a post on here a few years back - from Casper, I think - saying he went to a forum of some sort. He reported that Daniel Anderson was there & spoke very highly of Tim Smith. From what I "heard" afterwards, it was Paul Osborne who vetoed the idea of bringing Tim back to the club.

Anyway, IMO, Tim Smith could have been (& still can be) anything in this game. I wish him all the best with the Sharks in 2011. In the past, he has been unlucky and treated poorly by those around him who took joy in exaggerating his misdemeanours.

Let's compare the two players. Tim had 2 fantastic years (2005 & 2007) & one ordinary year (2006) with the club - where we made the semis in each of those years. In 2006, the whole side was crap due mainly to the Brian Smith fiasco but Tim seemed to cop most of the blame. In 2008, he was playing poorly - for about 8 rounds - but people couldn't wait to sink the slipper into him & show him the door.

On the other side of the coin, you have Daniel Mortimer. He has shown VERY little in 18 months in regards to ability but people keep wanting to give this unproven kid chance after chance. It seems very strange to me. I wonder, if his name had been Daniel Smith, would we be still calling for him to get another chance after what he has dished up?

Nobody gave a f**k about Horo or Reddy until they proved they could play. Why would we treat the son of a Bulldogs player any different?

I think some people are just better judges of potential than others.

Don't forget two NRL coaches now have shown faith in him. I can't see Mortimer playing as badly this year as last year. He'll be twice the player under a better system.

because people want him to succeed because he is a mortimer. Look at the stir it caused when parra tried to drop him last year when it came to the papers. It was back page news. People treat him different thats what p*isses me off

He does seem to get a fair bit of special treatment for the club and the media. FFS they even sell his dad's 'Mortimor' wine at the bar at home games.

Good point. Those coaches also know a sh*t load more than all of us put together.

I think Mortimer is a real big chance of improving on last season.

If he plays like my sister again this year I'm guessing he won't last long in first grade.

for mortimer to improve all he has to do is refuse to kick & pass the ball as soon as he recieves. The less touches he recieves the better

I'm curious, what's it like?

It's good on first sip, then sh*t on the 2nd and most likely sh*t on the third but by then u have bought a case for way too much money and your stuck with it for 3 years. People keep telling me that it will improve and that it was the guy in charge of the winery;s fault for picking the grape from the wrong position....:sarcasm:

Either that or its a lack of options or Morts has a very good contract.
