If you hate Morts...

I don't think Morts was as bad as you remember.

You're displaying a very obvious cognitive bias regarding what Mortimer did last year.

He might not remember, but I do.

Mortimer was sh*t in just about every game he played.

He had 2, maybe 3 games where he played just OK, but nothing better.

I even gave you the game and minute of a compilation of Mortimer hits. You just made some idiot comment about that being the only tackles he made all year.

Honestly, if Mortimer's 400+ 'tackles' aren't proper tackles then neither are any other half's.

Every halfback in the NRL gets help in defence. Coaches would prefer that none of their players - from front-rowers to fullbacks - are forced into making one-on-one tackles. That's why we keep a straight line in defence.

Stop living in the 70s lingard.

bullsh*t.

Anderson and Kearney.

By saying he's first choice for one of the halves spots.

But training has.

He said it on video.

Nobody said he's excited about our halves options. Honestly, who is? That's why we're all hoping, and the management are making indications, that they are on the lookout for a topline playmaker.

I think we should be looking for a playmaker with some explosiveness and footwork, which is why Braith would be a waste of money in our side.

Humble does indeed have explosiveness and footwork out of all our halves options but there's still question marks over his brains and ball-skills.

After all, he wasn't much of a playmaker in NYC - even Morts was better than him.

You`d argue underwater! There`s nothing new here, though.

Out of everybody on this forum, Lingard has given the most honest and realistic views of Mortimer's current predicament.

Wow, that is something that Lingard will be able to cherish. Is it like getting a "Well done" stamp on his homework...Onya Lingard, congratulations.

Thanks. I never did get a well done stamp for my homework, so this is doubly nice. Means a lot to me. I`d like to thank my parents for sticking by me. My wife for being such a trooper during the difficult times. And, of course, God - for making it all possible. Thank you.

Oh, and I`d just like to say - nobody hates Mortimer. This is a really stupid thread-title.

Could have fooled me - the way some people carry on is pretty strong.

Regardless of one's opinions of him, he's an Eel, and he'll be in our top 17 somewhere. I'd like to think we can all cheer him on and support the KID (he's a baby, after all) through this tough time.

Surely you're joking. He's a grown man. Also what tough time are you talking about?

Hate, cynical derision, call it what you want.

I don't believe anyone "hates" him at all. Hate is a pretty strong word. Those, myself included, that may criticize him, are only doing so on his footballing skills and what he brings to our club. Because we love the club first and foremost. Some people on occasions may sound like they hate him, but I doubt there is any viciousness involved, it'd be more like emotions take over and anger at his performances would come across as hatred to those who read them. But no post I've ever read addresses hatred towards him as an individual.

I don't hate the young fella. I just think he is a VERY ordinary footballer who gets WAY too much leeway from the club and the media.

I am dying for him to prove me wrong this year. Can't wait for the season to start.

I'd say he is. He's giving 100% but sucking majorly. That would qualify as a sucky time in my books - giving your all and not cutting it.
