Australian captain and one of the 'Rugby League Immortals'.
Rated as the greatest lock forward to ever play the game.
Holds the record for most Test appearances against France (12).
In the second Test at Swinton and in front of 30,843 people, Australia thrashed Great Britain 50-12. Dubbed the 'Swinton Massacre', Australia scored 12 tries. Johnny Raper played a blinder, destroying the Brits and having a hand in 9 tries but ironically was unable to score for himself. The dominance of Raper prompted former player and highly respected League commentator Frank Hyde to
describe it as the greatest 80 minutes of football by any one player.
An inspirational team player and superb defender, John Raper played in eight Grand Final wins.
Played out his career with Kurri Kurri in 1972.
Went on to become one of the game's administrators and national selector.
