Their second album, "The Bridge" sold 5 million copies worldwide, and their third album "Flowers" sold 2 million worldwide. Not too shabby for a group which tired of touring after the huge success of the first album.

Agree with Growler especially with Iron Maiden.

Iron Maiden are f**king awesome, aren't they? I've seen them 3 times here in Australia and the company I was working for at the time were doing the lights for their support act on there second visit. This afforded us the opportunity to meet the guys.

Steve harris is a very down to earth bloke who never forgets a name. I know, because he remembered me on their 3rd trip down under.

EDDIE RULES.

"AC/DC's 1980 album, "Back in Black", has been certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as the world's second-best-selling album. At 42 million copies sold, it lags only behind Michael Jackson's "Thriller", which moved more than 56 million copies"

"With 18 albums released, and 84 million record sales to their name, the Acka Dackas are one of the most successful rock bands in the world."

Now there is record sales!!!!!! average of 4.6 million per record over 18 releases.

How the f**k did Acka Dacca miss out? Are their any oz bands there?
No... but - the Aussie arm of Rolling Stone added on a postscript Australian Immortals list. They are:
AC/DC
Cold Chisel
The Finn Brothers
Johnny O'Keefe
Midnight Oil
Kylie Minogue
Nick Cave
The Saints

Bowie needs to be higher - but a fair list all the same

Mind you I lost respect for rolling stone when they recently rated Kurt Cobain higher than Santana in their 'greatest ever guitarists' list.

Public Emeny are aptly named, how the hell did they get on such an elite list.

Beats me, Queen are definitely an immortal if we are talking about a Top 50.

The list is typical of one of those poll things that list best albums , or best songs of all time etc. They are purely opinion based.

This list loses credibility for me when you consider they have Elton John at 49 and considering some of the artists far above him.

While Elton is an aging old man now who sings lame stale ballads, his 1970's and early 80's dominance changed modern music and basically invented glam rock and punk. No doubt the younger generation would never be able to connect the Elton of today to that performer he was back then.

I'd like to know what Johhny O'Keefe ever did for music.

Anyone?

Australia's king of rock and roll from the 60's

Also put Australia on the map as far as America and England was concerned.

Yeah Russell Crowe is aussie too

Funny how "30 odd foot of grunt" did not make the list.

Frenzal Rhomb sum up Russell Crow's band pretty well.
