Still pissed off that we lost a game we shouldn't have, but we're good like that. As ridiculous as it sounds, we'll probably push Melbourne all the way next week. Not expecting us to win, but I don't think we'll be belted either.

That's half the point. Strong, disciplined, and consistent teams win the games they are meant to. They might drop one or two a year, but not several. And they are never cool with it. Better to be on a roll than have to bounce back.

The other half of the point is that Wayne is meant to be building a team that wins when they're not meant to win. The home games against bottom 8 teams should be points in the bank (or close to it). That is what is meant to come from the mental strength and discipline etc etc - a "win at all costs" or "never give a sucker a break" attitude. They will show pride if they bounce back against Melbourne, but that isn't much use when you only bring the right attitude 50% of the time.
We've seen for years that if Joey or Kidsy are out then the Knights virtually fold. We haven't seen enough evidence of improvement there. Cronulla have won with gun troops out this year, so have other clubs. Manly seem to play tough no matter which 17 they roll out, Melbourne are always hard to beat. Up here we are pretty quick to get out-gunned when things are heavy and too often drop the guard against "easy" teams.

And that is what Wayne is meant to be changing.

I wouldn't sack him. See what is happening in 12 months.

I wouldn't be overly sad to see him go. He's not been terrible, but I can't say that I feel he's earning that big pay-check either.

There is a stretch. A son in law suggesting his father in law should coach a club he is on the board of. I disagree on Stone. It is a backwards step to reinstate him. A good assistant coach.

One year or 2 years early? He signed a 4 year contract.

I'd find it hard to see him leaving us before his contract is up. He's pulling in over a million a year supposedly and Newcastle is a pretty nice city to live in.
