Great win guys. Loved that you knocked out the most hated team in the comp. I hope you go on to win it...GO THE KNIGHTS.

They have a phobia about Old Timers. :D

Seriously though they have an excellent coach in Uncle Wayne and all kudos to him for what he has done with their club. We would have him back anyday.

Why? You have the legendary Steve Price and are right on the cusp of a great Dragons dynasty.

The DT is the BunniesMan of newspapers. If they say he might leave he's more likely to sign a contract extension with us.

I posted a bit about this in another thread this morning. This is certainly growing legs however I can only imagine how rife speculation would have been if we had been knocked out in W1 of the semis or missed the eight all together.

Obviously we all want him to see out his contract and finish the four years but Tinkler's financial position may have him reconsidering his longer term future????

Or its just Wayne playing the papers to have them writing about him rather than the team.

He might feel that its in the teams best interest to draw attention to himself right now.

I can't believe that he would be saying such things without a good reason and if he's got a valid contract in place and we are meeting the terms of that contract, I don't think he is someone who would jump without getting the Knights blessing well in advance.

If we win the comp I would let him go with our deepest thanks and blessings and move Rick Stone straight in.

Good points Nuffy.

It doesn't help that the Cowboys are yet to name a coach I suppose. It's really adding fuel to the fire.

Bennett has built himself a squad that could easily make the semis for the last two years of his contract. Many of those have signed up for his duration as well. I can only see money being an issue now.

Good point , he does do this when necessary, perhaps he feels it necessary in this case. I cant think of why he would not just tell the media that he's staying for his contract and to piss off. I know he doesnt like leaked stories to the media, its the main reason he pulled out of going to the Roosters so if he was going to the Cowboys theres a good chance he isnt now. The last I read Rick Stone was in the hot seat for the coaching role with the Cowboys.

He would only be feeding this because he thinks there is an upside for the team, he cares too much for his players for this to be anything other than a ploy in such a big week.

Its a ploy, pure and simple. Even if he was heading to the Cowboys, which I think is unlikely because he is a man who values his own integrity and he has made a commitment and I think he is someone who honours commitments, he wouldn't allow such speculation to affect the team.

I reckon he wants an issue to galvanise the team and this could be it. I could see him building this up within the team as "Sydney" wanting to tear down the underdogs.

He is the undisputed master of the mind game so there is an angle being played by the nature of his responses

Well he could have put it to bed straight away by answering "no" but he hasn't and he'd be well aware of the speculation that will now run rife because of the answers he gave. As you've pointed out Nuffy, one has to think it is to take the pressure away from the team and look for something more to really galvanise the squad even further.

I agree, Wayne isn't stupid and often plays the press like a fiddle. He wouldn't purposefully cause the team to doubt his commitment, and he wouldn't let something like that slip accidently either.

Wayne said thanks but no thanks and recommended Stoney for that job ages ago. I just can't see it as anything else aside from Wayne taking pressure off the players.

It IS possible that he wants to move on if we win the comp this year... and to be honest, he would have my absolute blessing. He would be passing on quite a set up to Stoney, and I'd back Stoney to follow through with it. It would also help us avoid an exodus of players in 2015 when Wayne leaves, as most of our important guys are signed up until then.

I just can't see him going anywhere except Brisbane after us. He wants to be close to family... Townsville isn't really much closer than Newcastle to the best of my knowledge. Doesn't weigh up at all.

Townsville is much further from Brisbane than Newcastle.

It's not double but I reckon it's close, 800km vs 1500 km.

This is a blatant attempt by Sydney papers to destabilise this club because we are playing a precious Sydney club in a GF qualifier. We are going to kick their arse and make the grand Final so good try.

Yeah I could cop that. I think that's a possible scenario too but anything else would be very unlikely.

I'd much rather these articles than 'Can Mullen handle it' or 'BJ is a grub'. Wayne wants them talking about him. If he was genuinely thinking about leaving, I don't think we'd know about it.

Although they have been giving the '00 Prelim a bit of a flog.
