I don’t want to see a protective Fitz in the presser tonight. I don’t think it helps the team. Call it out as a less than acceptable effort.

For who? The fans?

I'm sure he is laying down the law in the room. I like his approach so far - hasn't been super high, and shouldn't be super low.

It's a long season, and this is an early lesson.

Yeah, I agree. We don't need any Ricky Stuart theatrics.

I think the issue in the Manly game and Broncos game were similar but different.

Manly game the team switched off because the game was "won". The lesson there is never ease up.
Broncos game was effort and playing with no structure. The lesson is don't assume games will be easy like the Manly game.

There are common themes that needs to be fixed for sure between them, but I think the cause of these were different in each game - if that makes sense.

I’m not sure why but the playing style has changed. There is a lack of patience with the ball and a score of every set attitude. Defence has loosened right up too. I’m not sure what’s going on.

Finucane is a big factor - especially in defence.

He is the leader for the line speed and the effort plays - like kick chase and pressure on the kicker.
Without him and once Toby finishes his stint, the Sharks are left with Williams and Tolman on the field. They do not put nearly the same amount of energy into these effort plays.

I think losing BHU is also impacted the team more than people were thinking. Rotating Toby, Finucane, BHU in the middle with Tolman and Fifita having shorter stints really works. I think Hunt can step up to that BHU role, but Fitzy mustn't think he is ready for the additional minutes.

Fitz is on as much of a learning curve as the players , we must keep our expectations realistic . I'm watching more how some of our more erratic players of the past couple of seasons take on board the changes that Fitz is trying to implement and whether they are worth keeping .

Fitz has been very uncomfortable with the fact we have been drawing a lot of attention.
This game, plus the previous two second halves, will stem that a little, and maybe place us where he sees fit.

Good assessment.

The loss of Finucane and BHU is starting to show for sure. It's probably why, if true, we are looking at Vaughan.
We're definitely short on for hard-nosed, experience props. Every team needs at least one.

I've got to say, I've been a supporter of Williams but he's been underwhelming this year.
Very disappointing for a guy who was forward of the year last year.

I dare say Fitz is starting to lose faith in him as well.

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed it, or mentioned in the game day thread, but he was definitely hooked.
His lack of effort in locking the ball up, leading to the Bronco's third try, was poor for a player with his experience. He was replaced immediately, to not be seen again: 8 minutes into the second half; only 20 minutes into his stint and with only 1 other prop on the bench. I think that speaks volumes.

It's a shame because when he first came in I thought he could be anything, but I think he's reached his ceiling.

completely agree re williams. Share the same thoughts. It seemed he was definitely hooked for that lazy attempt which allowed the offload too. The way he is playing this year has a 2019-2021 way about him, only he was ok last season, but maybe it was just he was best of a bad bunch. For a bloke that looks fit as, he gets lazy after about 10-15 minutes of being on the field every time. Too much weights not enough cardio maybe.

We are playing under fatigue from minute 1. That’s all.
Hard training load to get them used to the business end of the year when the 1% plays are expected at minute 1 and minute 80

The Roosters have been prepared this way for years. No surprises that Fitz is doing the same with the team.
It was a little obvious against the Storm, it was very obvious against Manly, last night was just about expected to happen exactly how it looked.

Not wrong. And quite fair. Maybe the coaching staff just didn’t react or did not think it was needed. With the talent and experience we have we should have posted mor points in the second half. And now Ozzi it’s becoming a habit . A second half failure to score tries. The players to me looked tired at the end of the game, from working their buts of in defence. Which kept the score low.

What helps the team is addressing the team in person through out the week. Achieves nothing doing it through the presser. How many of them actually watch it anyway?

Our opposition seem to work us out after playing us for the first 40. They then change tactics. We play the same. Simplified . We have great players ,I cannot wait till 2042 ( or what ever I’m supposed too, ).Ozzi and Frenzy.

Oh dear ‘uncomfortable’ with the attention. Place us where he sees fit? Are you kidding me? Wins are mana from heaven in this comp.

Carina my Friend, I'm not sure if you live in Brisbane as per your name, but please let me share this for the "out of Sydney" Sharks supporters.

The over hyping of the Sharks in the Sydney Media has been 1000 times greater than usual - Talakai has been the main news story all of this week. The attention was so significantly out of proportion you could almost say it was deliberate for the ambush.
