Carina my Friend, I'm not sure if you live in Brisbane as per your name, but please let me share this for the "out of Sydney" Sharks supporters.

The over hyping of the Sharks in the Sydney Media has been 1000 times greater than usual - Talakai has been the main news story all of this week. The attention was so significantly out of proportion you could almost say it was deliberate for the ambush.

Thanks for letting me not have to explain it.

Not Brisbane, far south coast. Originally from Oyster Bay and Jannali.

If you listen to the Dale Finucane interview on Bloke in a Bar, he says…

Fitzy is BUILDING a team with resilient defence … BUILDING… Present continuous tense.

This does not happen overnight…

The two games we’ve lost recently occurred over a ‘3 games in 12 days’ period, when DF was essentially absent.

We still have reason to be positive!

Absolutely. The fan base was just fed too much fluff early on from media, podcasts and on the socials. When hiccups happened people panic.

Imagine being a doggies fan right now.

Yep. Brilliant.

I absolutely have to stop saying the team needs to control the sets better cos he wants them to attack at will. Enjoy the ride!!

It took Fitz 8 weeks to break a 14yr old record.

First team since 2008 to win a game after having a player sent off. The great Adam Cuthbertson for manly.

Some might say it was the players and absolutely it was but you need to listen to the presser to understand where the player guidance came from in how to handle that situation.

Apparently he said to the boys something like ‘you have the chance to go out and do something very special’. Then directed then to never stop playing footy with the ball because if you get into a grind they will wear us down. So smart to run them ragged when we had the ball to make them too tired to attack efficiently

Yes, that’s pretty much what he said.

Very clever…

Not a 100% true. Canberra beat the Bulldogs last season with Papalii sent off in the 60th minute.
Sharks are the first team to win since 2008 after a player was sent off in the first half of a game.

I wondered that myself if a player was sent of late and a team held the lead. I will have to read the nrl.com article again and see if it says first half only.

We almost won in 2009 at Brookvale I think when Luke Douglas was sent off in the first half.

I think the referees subsequently confirmed the send off was the wrong call...
I remember that one - pretty sure that was a Ricky Stuart master class in defending his troops. Someone was behind him in the press conference pulling the cord in his back;
“Got a group of blokes hurting in there”
“The refs keep are destroying the game”
To be honest he was right, but it was a manly stitch up.
Luke Covell was captain that day and I think from memory was even more colourful in his thoughts.
Douglas was cleared the following week
