I reckon Vlad will have a think about it. He is clever, as is the NBA.
it is a great idea to keep/re-up interest in a boring time of the season.

A lower grades knockout might be decent. All QCup & NSWCup teams plus clubs or residents rep teams from NZ, PNG, Fiji, NT, WA, regional areas etc to make up the numbers.

We have two bye weekends during SOO

Simple answer would be as follows

Pre-Season 2 weekends are Round 1 and Round 2 of a knockout series

Then semi-finals on Thu & FNF of 1st SOO weekend - with no rep players

Final on FNF in 2nd SOO weekend

But I would also play SOO on Tuesday nights with all other rep games on Sat Sun

It's a dumb idea. We don't need any more "gimmick" matches. That's all it is for the NBA.

The matches are still worth 2 points just like any other game. Having an in-season tournament just makes those games have a bit of extra meaning.

I wouldn’t normally give a shit either way about this, tbh…but if V’Landys wants to implement it then it automatically becomes a dumb idea.

f**k that bloke.

Oh we don't need more "gimmicks"? Sorry I missed the part where suddenly our code was number 1 and playing in front of full crowds every week.
If the NBA "needs" "gimmicks" NRL sure as hell does.

The NBA's problems is because of constant rule changes favouring attack so much, much of the offensive play is isolation one on one play with players rarely playing any defence. The days of teams like the Showtime Lakers, or the 1980s Celtic, or the 1990s Bulls is long gone. A p;layer gets beaten off the drible, they just watch their opponent go in for the dunk or layup.

If we’re doing knockouts, it’s needs to be semi pro from NZ, QLD, NSW, PNG and PI. As an “in competition”, we need a Ranfurly Shield type competition during the NRL competition from potentially the first round til the last

The NBA in season tournament isn't a knockout. It is just a new comp within the regular comp.

I just say it is specifically designed by the NBA due to a time of the season that interest does drop a bit and I am saying we have the same problem around origin time of year.

The NRL would be nuts to not look into what it is all about and how they (the NBFingA) have researched (probably spending tens of millions) working out something that will kick interest back up.

As long as it's a meaningless comp (just like the pre- season is) I'm all for it.
