What a ripper...Champion is a good player but IMO Storm are now overloaded with centres with the likes of Stanley, Neilson, Chambers and now Champion all capable of playing that possie.
Is that you Shane? That was taken straight out of Souffs patronizing play book. You kick a local juniour right out the door then shower him with plaudits and revere the bloke after after you shafted him. I had to laugh at Richardson when he said words to the affect "It was Beau's choice" Yeah tecnically it was but that was only after he was told he wasn't f**king wanted any more and he was advised to look elsewhere.
Did they actually expect him to friggin stay after that? Of course they didnt't but that was clearly their plan all along. What a disgusting piece of sh*t of a club and i can't wait until this whole fiasco comes back and bites them on the arse and you can be assured it will, the only ones that can't see it are the deluded Crows disciples
looks like he's been eating more than caps.
You're right on cue as usual
The Eels were rumoured to offer 300k a year for 3 years. The Storm gave him a 3 year contract. Put 2 and 2 together
Common f**king sense you troll. Champion is on 300k, there is no way we could afford that and resign Luke at the same time. And when the choice is between Luke and Champion, who the f**k do you think we'd go for?
Very happy that this has finally been sorted.
Wrapped to have Inglis at the club.
In terms of Beau, it is disappointing that he is leaving, but at least he is getting a bigger deal and a 3 year contract, playing with 3 of the best players in the game. I hope he continues to kick on from this year and makes the SOO side in the future.
While I don't know how they achieved it, this is some good news for Melbourne. Solid player who seems keen to put in and earn his money. While Champion is only 24/5 he will add a bit of extra experience to a team who who will probably needs it.
Inglis, fantastic player though he is three times a year, will only cause problems including salary cap stress, higher than normal expectations for supporters and a lack of hot dogs and boats.
It will end in tears.
So you can't afford Champion on 300k yet you can afford Inglis on much, much more. WTH?

Gee he's due by october then is he? I better start behaving myself
And we did just drop a 300k player.
To free up the necessary room (and sign another min wage player) he'd have to be over 200k. And the official article from Souths says he's getting even more money in 2011, as well as the longer offer from the Storm.. So if he wasn't on 300k, he'd be on close to it now.I took your post to mean that the Wabbits were freeing up 300k of cap space by releasing him.
Why would the Storm sign him at 300k when Souths apparently have Inglis under the cap at 350k? Madness.
Well we already had 190k room for Inglis. Plus the room freed up by champion and there you have it.So you can't afford Champion on 300k yet you can afford Inglis on much, much more. WTH?

Summed up well mate...Champion will do well at Storm and from what I have seen he has good pace for a centre so will link well with Slater and co.
Glad you guys got GI and not that Brisbane mob.
Isn't Chambers playing for the QLD Reds these days?
Cheers.
Champs will become one of the favorites down there in time as he is certainly a passionate player who gives it his all. Agree with your summation with Slater, it will be fantastic for Champs' game.
Not all the 3rd party deals were blocked. Some of them will be outside the cap, the rest plus the 190k we had him for originally will go under the cap. And we did just drop a 300k player. We might even be able to pay Inglis more in the 1st year than the original contract had so it reduces the severity of the back ending.
If they didn't care why would they give us so much trouble over Inglis's contract. While it does strike me as a little odd that Melbourne could afford Champion, there's no way they'd try to cook the books again so soon after the scandal.
Don't worry, i'm sure Bunniesdick will explain to you how it works as Rusty always calls him to get his opinion on any decisions souffs are going to make.
