Injury update

Also with Tim Browne retiring - does that open a return for Tim Grant? He’s on the outer at wests - surely would jump at a contract we gave him?

I’m not so sure we need a prop now, some of the young guys look pretty decent, and with Merrrin’s move to prop I’d say we’re mostly covered.

JFH could also play there if needs be, and we have plenty of backrowers.

If the club is considering bringing in an outside back before June 30 the one thing you can count on is Gus will know exactly who is and who isn't available and will be all over it. Whether we do sign someone is another issue, as it would have to tick all the right boxes particularly given it is highly likely to be a short term fix only. There will be no panic acquisitions. While the fans may only be concerned with 2018 Gus and the club are forward planning to next season and beyond so much bigger issues involved.

We are 2nd in NRL. Top 4 in NSW Cup. With May, Cleary, Blake and Mansour to comeback in.

No doubt we are looking but there is no need for a panic buy

So I spotted MWZ on Friday night at the panthers dogs game and then MWZ got dropped for Fonua on Sunday?

Could we sign MWZ if he was mutually terminated from Wests????

He was injured. The Tigers aren't dropping him any time soon since he's been good.

Disagree with my opinions? I asked you why Ben Barba was poison to club. What’s that got to do to with my opinion?

I couldn’t care less if you agree/disagree with me about trying to sign him, which was my opinion.

Also, can you use the quote function properly, makes it easier to reply.

Hoffman or B.morris

If Gould does make a depth signing it will be someone on the minimum salary and someone whom we probably haven't seen too much off or know much about.

The additional funds in our salary cap by the release of Bryce, Peachy leaving and the retirement of Browne etc will go towards upgrades to our existing off contract players.

Even allowing for the additional funds I expect we will not be able to retain all the players we would like too.

We had to submit 29 man squad 1st of March. 30 man in June 30 they didn't specify how you add external players. Maybe it is in the rules it has too be minimum wage

I really don't think we just have Cartys money still just sitting there and signing Barba right now is just a risk that we are not going to take, be realistic.

IF we sign anyone it will be another Tyrone Phillips type.

I agree. Another Tyrone Phillips type is most likely. Anyone we sign is hardly going to force their way into our first grade backline once everyone comes back. The only exception might be a winger.

Carty's money should be available for this year. Any use of it for upgrades etc would count towards next years cap?? $200-300k should buy a solid winger for half a season you would think. Not sure who is available though....

Going to have a full match look at fullback Charlie Staines in Saturday's SG Ball grand final. What I have seen of him in highlights was very promising. Obviously would be too green to throw in after the finals, but if I was Gould,I'd rush him straight into the Reserve grade squad to get ready for later in the year in case we need him. And he wouldn't cost the farm either.

We could probably offer 18 month deal. No backup centres in the pipeline yet Flegg have a few options but won't be for next year. would be someone off contract at the end of the year as they want FG.

Baiden Burns looks the best option can play anywhere in the backline, knows most of the players and only left due to us being slow to offer him a deal.

Bryce's money was used to front end a few guys so we had more to spend to re-sign others

That whole backline is crazy good. I play oztag with Cini he is so fast would be close to the fastest in the club. those guys would move to Flegg and Flegg guys will come up and so on.

You have to admit that Gus has done a good job with the juniors. They seem to keep coming.

First grade running around with more than half our backs injured and we are still running second.

The only downside is that we seem to rely quite heavily on backrowers filling in the backline.

The academy is starting to take affect that is for sure. Flegg down is the 1st lot to have the academy their whole career

Looking at squad that was always going to happen. So many backrowers that played in the backs in lower grades. Hopefully Sivo can stay fit now and we can get some actual backs out there

I think Souths have offered him a new contract.
Do you know what happened with Jed on the weekend? Limped off.
