Latest injury update:

Mansour - Heartlage grade 4, unlikely to regain form this season

Peachey - fractured compass, may continue to run sideways

Egan - Lower lumbar strain, prevents passing from the ground

Heatherington - Frontal lobe lobotomy, anything could happen, most likely bad

Kikau - Ear infection, only hears the Kik part of his name, hence the kicking

Scans have revealed the extent of the knee injury suffered by Panthers hooker Wayde Egan in last Friday's defeat to the Warriors.

The 21-year-old has been diagnosed with a grade one medial ligament injury.

The relatively minor nature of the injury means Egan is still a chance of taking the field against Melbourne Storm this Friday.

Should Egan be unavailable, Sione Katoa is the natural replacement at hooker, while Tyrone Peachey and Tyrone May are both capable in the position.

The Panthers line-up to face the Storm will be revealed when coach Cameron Ciraldo names his team on Tuesday afternoon.

If we are still going. I'd bring him back even if only on the wing

Yes even on the wing.

If you carry May/Peachey on the bench then we have options if he goes down injured.

DWZ still hasn't had the run at fullback I was expecting. Should have stayed in the 1 the whole time (Yes even with Phillips/Chricton in the side). Though I still feel Edwards is going to surpass him as our number 1 fullback in 2019.

Too much running in FB to miss so long and be good. Wing gets Crichton out and our back 3 is together again

Not really, you can start light activity after around 6-8 weeks, building to almost full contact by week 12. And from all reports Dylan Edwards has been the fittest guy at the club for the past 3 seasons. Personally I think we are done for the season and wouldn’t bring him back until next year.

But if we make it through 2 finals, I’d play him at the back. Unless of course he has had to adjust his catching technique due to reduced range of motion post op and isn’t still safe under the high ball. Can take as long as 12-18 months to get pre-op rom back.

If we make it to the grand final it’ll be because we’ve carried Crichton there. Edwards comes straight back in, he is an animal.

All pretty irrelevant unless the side has been living out their last 10 minute fantasies and are just going to flick the switch and shred sides in the dieing moments of the season. People would be so pissed.

Panthers General Manager Phil Gould certainly raised some eyebrows this week when he suggested injured fullback Dylan Edwards could make a shock return if Penrith reached the Preliminary Final. I’m told the club’s medical staff were a little bemused by the claim as while Edwards would most likely be physically fit for such a return, all his rehabilitation plans have been focused around a 2019 comeback. Edwards suffered a serious shoulder injury back in April and the Panthers haven’t been able to adequately cover the fullback position since.

This is why he would have said it.

They answered their own question. You're welcome Mr Masked Panther.
