If we can get Edwards back in 6 weeks we could be full strength for finals.

Huge difference between guys being back by Round 20 and out for season. Only trouble is whether Edwards with a busted shoulder is able to do his job.

Article in full.

Penrith Panthers winger Josh Mansour has received some positive news after undergoing major facial surgery last week.

NRL.com has been told Mansour, who was originally expected to miss the rest of the season, is now expected to miss just 10-12 weeks after going under the knife at Nepean Hospital.

It was feared Mansour, who suffered five facial fractures after copping an accidental knee to the head from Anthony Don a fortnight ago, may had played his last game for the Panthers in the win against the Gold Coast Titans.

However, Mansour didn't require a bone graft and is now likely to return to the paddock after this year's State of Origin series.
The Panthers have been decimated by injury over the opening eight rounds of the Telstra Premiership, but have managed to overcome the crippling toll to climb to second on the ladder.

Fullback Dylan Edwards may return from a dislocated shoulder in six weeks, however he will see a surgeon on Monday afternoon to determine whether he requires surgery that will see him miss a large chunk of the season.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is likely to shift to the fullback role in his absence, opening the door for either Tyrone Phillips or Tom Eisenhuth to make their club debut for the Panthers.

Tom Eisenhuth played one game for us in first grade, 2012 against the Warriors in Auckland I believe.

If he does play [which is doubtful) it might be the record gap between a player's first and second NRL matches.

Would be stoked if Eisenhuth gets a run. Great story of perseverance falling from NRL to Ron Massey & back to NRL 6 years later. Champion bloke as well, no ego, extremely humble.

He’s now listed as part of the nrl squad on panthers website

Does anybody know what effect Tim Browne retiring has on our salary cap.

Presumably with his retirement we aren’t continuing to pay him for the remainder of the season.

Does that mean the balance then becomes available immediately to sign someone else after 30 June?

He was on minimum wage or close to it. His it really wouldnt free much space up.

But we should have ~$500k to work with after Carty left us. We need to look at getting an experienced back on the books.

We still pay him as per contract we just don't get it put on the cap
Would be the same arrangement Parra used to get Watmough off their books. Covered by insurance. It'd be pretty clear cut you'd think given the nature of the injury. It'll just mean someone else from reserves on similar money comes into the squad.

Mansour injury on a possitive means je can still train and keep fitness amd strength. Much worse if was an acl.

At eels we have this

1 Gutherson
2 Gjennings (killing it)
3 Mjennings
4 Taka
5 Hayne

That leaves Hoffman,Auvau,Bevan as handy back ups. Im sure one would be available and may be what Panthers need. Hoffman would be most versatile.

Otherwise Id look at B.morris on a this and next year deal. Dogs are shot amd has still something to offer short term
