So how would someone rate Fulton's ability as a 5/8 then? Obviously he needs to be able to excel in that position in PL before he gets a chance in firsts.

Not necessarily. Plenty of players have excelled in new positions without ever having played in that position in the lower grades. If a player has the qualities regarded as necesaary to play a position then a judgement call can be made. Preston Campbells move from wing to the half back at a time when Cronulla was lacking in that position is a recent example.

Fulton has the ball skills to play 5/8 & he reads the game well. As he develops physically he will one day be more suited to lock, as he has the running game for that position also. I can't help but think "Scott Hill" whenever I see him play.

I agree with the Buettner Elford centre pairing that would be 2 good hole runners who work the angles.But in saying that Dene has a huge future and I think it's time we gave him a permanent start in the centres.
