While the make-up of
Channel Nine’s replacement for The Footy Showremains unclear, the network is set to a launch a new player driven footy show.
Crocmedia boss Craig Hutchison, a former
Footy Show host, has been in talks with Nine for several months about the new concept which is understood to have been given the green light this week.
Some of the game’s biggest stars will rotate through the panel.
Richmond’s Alex Rance, Carlton’s Sam Docherty and Hawthorn’s Jarryd Roughead have already been linked to the program.
“It’s a show that will give the players their own voice,” one source said.
SEN’s Sam McClure, who parted ways with Channel 7 recently, is set for a return to television as the host.
Crocmedia bosses recently held secret meetings with two of biggest management groups in the game — Paul Connors and TLA — to gauge their support for the format.
While the placement of the show is still being mulled over, one of the options is to have it run after
Footy Classified on Monday nights.
Crocmedia already provides football content for Nine with its
Future Stars show, which focuses on the under-18 competition.
