On the original question, I have a second one - who gives a f**k? Roberts, to date, is a relative nobody, who's claim to fame is the speed he gets turfed from clubs

What about Darren Albert? From memory he was listed as running the 100 in under 11 seconds. Not sure the exact time though.
I've spoken to Darren and he's told me 10.7.

He was lightning, Roberts has never done under 11secs ever, he's got brilliant short burst but his 100 isnt as impressive.

Jovan Clark is probably the quickest man to play in the national comp.

I'm sure the Australian record (in aussie) for the 100m is 10.03, run by Matt Shrvington at the Sydney Olympics and the OP reckons a league player training as a league player is running sub 10s.

Behave.

Correct.

No not correct. Matt Shirvington ran his then Australian record of 10.03 in 1998 in KL at the Commonwealth Games. Patrick Johnson later broke it by running 9.93 in Japan a few years later.

game scenario is very different to straight out sprinting on a track. Ball in one hand, footy gear on, being chased down, hard to compare speed of a sprint to a game day break.

What did Shirvo ran in the semi final at the Sydney Olympics than? Finish fifth, I think.

I know he also ran real quick in Queensland at the Ted Turner (CNN) inspired (whatever they were called) games in Brisbane in the 100m, fairly sure he won the bronze medal.

I don't think the poster meant it was at the Stawell gift but in a match race over 100m.

Thats right , he raced the Stawel Gift winner in a promotional challenge over 100m , he wore footy gear but did have spikes on although he claimed he ran faster in bare feet lol.

Ahh, gotcha. I thought it looked a bit of a super human effort.
