Im still not sure why any of you care so much, he's coaching the canberra raiders, who are one of the least relevant teams in the comp, absolutely no one gives a shit about them unless you are a fan...

One can only really conclude the only reason people care is because they are still pretty seriously butthurt over Stuart.

Stuart may be a rubbish coach, or he may be a good coach, but he's not coaching any of your sides so why so much invested in him?

Once you cop 50 a few more times you will see the light.

It's called discussion Nick . What you are suggesting is that LU deletes the NRL discussion tab and we all carry on talking about how our individual clubs should sign ( insert player who scored over 100 in Supercoach in the last round ) in the club threads .

You don't limit yourself to just talking about the Raiders on here. People have their opinions on Ricky, mine being he is a shit coach that can not develop a half back or build a side who will bail or be sacked before seeing out his contract. Feel free to disagree.

So you're saying you've never voiced an opinion on someone/something not at your club...? Yeah ok champ... :sarcasm:

No, what im saying is i dont understand the vitriol regarding it... like as in Eels fans still genuinely seem to dispise him and death ride him, he's not thier problem anymore. But they can't let go

Basically no one thought the raiders would be any good this year, even us raiders fans accepted this, but with each lose, this thread gets bumped by someone laughing at Canberra losing, as if they are some kind of premiership/top 8 contender and it's laughable that we're losing game

It's not as if this is passing comments when the issue comes up, there is actually people in this thread who's favourite team could be described as "who ever is playing against Ricky Stuart"

It doesnt worry me in the slightest, im not a Stuart lover (though i do think 8 weeks into a 3 year deal, in which the squad he is dealing with has got many, many problems is a tad early to be making a call either way)... I just read this thread, see SO much hatred and laugh thinking to myself "He must have REALLY cut these blokes up, they cant help but NOT talk about him"

I dont understand why you guys have so much invested in hating the guy. And it sust makes me laugh.

Can you really blame Eels fans for still being pissed? The guy almost killed that club so I can understand the hate.

Hate him sure, but i dont understand the need to death ride him, he's not their problem anymore. But i do find it strange that none of them seem to concede that him cleaning the joint out and bringing in fresh talent was the best thing that has happened to them in f**king years

If you dont like stuart as a coach, how could you not love what happened? Stuart comes in, absolutely guts a club that needed gutting, and then left (thanks for a "I can leave WHEN EVER THE HELL I LIKE, FOR WHAT EVER REASON I LIKE" clause... i mean this in itself is a sneaky under-rated aspect of his departure, what kind of 2nd rate mob puts this clause in a coaching contract? Madness) and they got another coach to work with the new talent.

If you dont like Stuart as a coach (and it seems many dont, despite basically every one of them trumping his as the next Gibson only 12 months prior), is this the perfect situation? He cleans the joint out and leaves, allowing a better coach to come in and work with a better sqaud. If he's such a shit coach, this is the best thing he could have done for the Eels, isnt it?

Stuart/Matty minibus Elliott. Toss of a coin.

working his magic again this year

Didnt feel the need to bump this after we beat Melbourne? Nothing when we were narrowly beaten by Penrith in horrible conditions? Nothing when we gave Souths a hiding? Nothing when we lost in the final minutes to the Titans?

Nope, waited till we got smashed by Manly. I imagine Diablo has this favourited and was dirty that he couldnt bump it sooner
pathetic really.

As if you Ricky Stuart apologist Raiders fans are happy with how your team is going. Easily a top 8 side if they turned up every week but Ricky is pro at making sure that never happens.

Our 19 year old fullback, who is the best 19 year old in the game is already signed elsewhere.
Our halfback is a former gooden who cant run. Our 5/8th is eight games into a switch from centre to 5/8th and our hooker is rubbish

Our front row is over-priced and under performing, Paul Vaughan aside. Papalii, our strike back rower has missed 4 or 5 games already.
We lost Edrick Lee, our only really competent experienced winger to a season long injury, Matt Allwood is an 8 game rookie.

Croker, Fensom, Vaughan are the only players in the sqaud who are really settled in their positions as better than average footballers

what about this scenario says "easily a top 8 team" to you?

You sound delusional. I suppose you thought Parramatta were a top 8 team last year, too?

I dont expect a top 8 spot this year, the club has gone through too much personel change to expect immediate results. Being realistic about your club is not a common theme on LU, but i like bucking the trend.
This time next year, ill tell you exactly what i think of the job Stuart is doing, because this time next year we'll have a clearer idea of where the club is heading under him.

Which is a fair call. Do you think you guys will keep Milford? If so, get him into the halves ASAP!

No, i think we're about 1% chance fo keeping him and that 1% hinged on us being really good early on and the Broncos sucking... the absolute opposite has happened, so no i dont think we'll keep him

Once round 13 has passed and it's confirmed that he's leaving, we need to transition to Cornish and Ahearn in the side, if that means Milford is playing in reggies, or off the bench, so be it. That and the decision on Terry Campese, who flat out can not play any longer, are two early tests of the Stuart era.

He needs to make tough calls on those guys, and perhaps unpopular ones, for the long term benefit of the club.

Hopefully he learnt from the Parra experience that telling 13 guys that they should find other clubs is not great for the overall morale of the team going forward. Maybe just do it one week and one player at a time.

Maybe that's what his reality TV show will really be about... each week he cuts an under performing Raider, after they compete in physical challenges

I'll make it very simple for you , I hated the guy before he was at Parra and tenfold now he's been and gone . It brings me much joy seeing his press conferences now after a big loss at another club especially after Parra have dished up more of what we've become accustomed to over the last few years , it's kind of a sick twisted treat for me . The pressers are almost identical to what I watched last year so now it's our time to enjoy the show just as it was Sharks fans last year , hopefully for you some other club will be stupid enough to employ him after Canberra so you to can laugh at the next club . In a way Parra and Cronulla fans have a little bond , Maybe we are the jilted ex lovers or maybe he's the cheating scumbag but either way we are the ones who've been there done that and you're the new dough eyed young squeeze who thinks they're different .

Think you'll find the reason we enjoy his failure so much is not the fact he left but the whole , not going anywhere , not talking to Canberra , oh wait yes I am going but it's because of my daughters school type crap . Just man up and go champ .

You could also add the never ending book of excuses and IMO the fact he left all of a sudden we didn't get a chance to give it to him whilst he was our coach ( see Kearney , Hagan )

I have no ill feelings towards The Raiders even if they did think they were being clever sneaking in and stealing our contracted ( yes there was a clause but they must have had discussions to find that out ) coach out from under our noses .

When we lost the 2005 Nations trophy, Stuart said that Bennett and the team had cheapened the Aussie jersey-Guess losing the World cup must rank pretty high then aye.
