Opinion Is Ricky Stuart the most overrated coach ever?

Over the period of time he's been coaching? No. 6 years at the Roosters, 4 at the Sharks and will probably be at Canberra for a while yet. All good stints for an NRL coach. There's plenty of good ammo to throw at Ricky but you're over stretching here.

Sometimes when someone is trying too hard to be an Internet "enforcer" they come off looking like a 13 year old special needs kid. Best of luck!

Oh shock horror, the Stuart lover just happened to leave the Parramatta abortion off his selected list.

Doesn't matter what names you bring up, Bennett, Gibson etc, if you've coached 4 clubs in the same comp, it's a lot.

The point you're making is moot, it has nothing to do with ability, if every supercoach followed Gibson's idealism and refused to coach more than 3 years at any particular club the Sharks could've had a cup by now . . . and if Jack had of abstained from that point of view the Eels would have definitely won 6 on the trot

Sticky will never become a supercoach imo, him not having the knowhow is more to the point

Actually if you check my original post, you will see that I haven't said anything about his abilities etc, but simply responded to someone by saying that when you've coached as many sides as Stuart, that your going to come up against one of them regularly after someone posted that he will be playing one of his old sides for the second week in a row.

Most of that at the Broncos though. His stints at other clubs are similar to Stuart?s with 1 year at Canberra, 3 at St George and 3 at Newcastle.

If we're going to analyse it like that, even though he was co-coach at Canberra he was clearly the no.2

Arguable he's only really coached 3 teams.

And of those 7 seasons, he delivered two minor premierships, a title and another grand final appearance along with making the semis most years. SO still not too shabby.

Not really. Your opinion of him being ?clearly number 2? isn?t a fact, while Bennett coaching 4 teams is.

The Australian coach & foundation coach of the raiders was the other , it's a reasonable inference.

Whatever the case there's no getting around the fact that Sticky's previous 3 tenures ended acrimoniously. 4 if you include the Australian job.

Such a polarising figure.

Most of that in his first 3 years , with a team someone else built.

Take away that & you're left with a pretty average career filled with feuds & playing the victim.

Bennett wasnt clearly #2 at all in Canberra.
If anything he was #1 with Furner being the #2, no one is under any illusions about Bennett being the brains of the operation.

I'm usually a regular poster in this thread but Ricky seems to have mellowed and found his happy place at the Raiders.

I enjoyed the spray of the Newcastle writer, why should he be surprised that Ricky took a shot at him when the media are always happy to take chunks out of anyone without repercussion? And he seemed to take the belting by the Eels and the crowd chanting pretty well.
