Opinion Is Ricky Stuart the most overrated coach ever?

This is the part that stuns me.

Ok, I might be able to be convinced to believe that the two onfield referees that were facing the touch judge both somehow miss the flag being raised, but how the f**k does the bunker miss it?

When referring a call to the video ref, the main ref usually only asks for one or two things to be looked at yet the f**kers still go through the entire play. This must have been the only time they didn't.

human nature, when you f**k up, play dumb, happens at workplaces all around Australia, Sutton 100% seen the flag go up.

Yeah I don't doubt that.

But by magically have all of the other officials somehow miss the flag they can avoid saying they didn't know their own rules.

Well the dickhead in the Bunker is a spastic (Patten), safe to say that genius didn't know the flag should've stopped play.

why would the bunker give a shit about the flag?

he wasn't out

and the bunker has ignored flags plenty of times when tries are score in the corner if they were raised incorrectly

because the by rule, which is how the bunker is set up, no common sense, no interpretation. They go by the rule book.
And by the rules, they should have declared the play dead when the flag was raised incorrectly.
This has been confirmed by the NRL boss who has said they got it wrong.

Also, there was no conclusive evidence to overturn the knock on. So the bunker f**ked it up twice, you'll just have to come to terms with that. Just as we have to come to terms with the fact non of this shit matters (and really didnt matter, if you are facing a MUST WIN game this early in the season, you're already cooked) and the scoreboard is final

The officials blew the call, on many MANY levels. They've admitted it, no idea why you're holding out.

This is who we are Cherry
Who we'll likely always be. Ive come to terms with that.

To win a premiership in today's NRL, the Raiders would need to have EVERYTHING go in their favour or unearth the next JT/Smith level superstar... which isnt too dissimilar to half the league tbh... but we do ourselves no favours by maintaining a jobs for the boys board, which retains a proven failure at CEO, and hires a thrice failed old boy HC, after sacking a rookie old boy HC weeks prior

We have a lot stacked against us, clubs in big markets undoubtedly have significant advantages over our club which can not be understated... but until we sort our shit out, that's white noise. It doesn't matter because we could be in f**king Paris, and the other 15 franchises located on the Garza strip and we still wouldnt win a league with this set up
For the time we're playing you guys I hate you, I hate every f**kwit especially Ropana, he is the most over talented player for his level of geniusation, Blake Austin is a prized f**kwit too, although I've always had an unhealthy obsession hoping Sam Williams will finally break through to being a proper first grader

I've wasted a few pineapples on you merkins breaking through to lift the trophy

the bunker overrules incorrect decisions tries are referred there

You're a real thinker, aren't you?
The bunker f**ked up, that has been confirmed. They incorrectly over-ruled a correct No Try call.

What the f**k are you pissing on about! haha.

But hey, good job by you guys, you got out from under Stuart, retooled the roster, hired the great BA... How's that working out?
Imagine getting left at the alter by Stuart and SOMEHOW hiring some f**king spud worse than him. Haha. BA baby, BA.

This season sucks because its given Stuart 2 excuses for being so shit this year.

Excuse 1: Hodgson gets seriously injured at the WC which means Stuart can whinge about not getting compensation for an injured player and a free pass from the critics for being without a key player.

Excuse 2: Dodgy refereeing 'ruined our chances of making the finals'. Never mind that the previous 18 weeks were utter dog shit, with that 1 call Stuart can blame officiating for the team's woes.

I fear for my sanity, I just know this myth will be coach until 2040.

Canberra have a team to really challenge for a premiership a huge foward pack with a great backline, the only problem is that Ricky Stuart is such a negative coach...he is not a leader of men.

Why can’t it be both?
Why can’t the raiders be criticised for not playing to the whistle and we still accept it shouldn’t have mattered since the issue was referred to the bunker, who inexplicably missed the raised flag and over turned the call without conclusive evidence

Both can, and in fact, are true

There was four f**k ups here

1. The touchie raising his flag
2. The on field official not stopping the game when he did
3. The raiders not playing to the whistle
4. The bunker overruling the call without sufficient and conclusive evidence to do so AND missing the procedural error that negates the entire knock on fiasco

One of those 4 is on the raiders and they have to own up to that. But the other 3 need to be acknowledged
I agree there didn't seem conclusive evidence to overturn it but I'd had a few beers and wasn't watching closely. Sack the touchie, sanction the bunker but in the end I still think the Raiders have got to wear it for not playing the whistle. Absolutely, they were ripped off, unfortunately, shit happens sometimes.

I reckon the ref saw the flag go up and then quickly down... and thought play on the touchie made a mistake.
Which is exactly what it looked like.
If he was sure of a knock on he would of kept holding it up.

You only need to see it once to tell he knew he’d f**ked up.

Sure. But by the rules, it’s the same thing as the ref accidentally blowing his whistle when nothing happened.

He didn’t mean to, but because he f**ked up, that play is dead.

The only course of action available to them is to stop play, and then if the touch judge says it was a knock on the Raiders get the ball, if not then the Sharks get the ball and a fresh set.

The only thing they can’t do is let the play continue. It doesn’t matter if the flag went up accidentally. Flag up, play is dead.

So, play the whistle then?

Yes the touchie raised the flag, but the touchie is not in control of the game. The ref must call a stoppage, and unless he does so it's play on. The Raiders playing standing there with their hands up are just as much to blame for that try as the touchie.

When the touchie calls a forward pass it's up the on field ref to stop play and unless he does it's also play on.

I know that's a bitter pill to swallow but you play to the whistle.

Yes I reckon the Raiders got dudded, but, you do not stand around with your hands in the air waiting for a ref to blow the whistle. That's DUMB!

And Leilua throwing a 30m pass across the field which was completely unnecessary, it only had to go through the hands. That ball did go marginally forward.

Ricky can only blame the refs so much, at some point he has to take some accountability for the dumb things his players do. But for now, he will blame the refs for his own failures as a coach.

Yep I reckon he likes duds calls, it takes the attention away from himself and his inability to get results week in week out.
