Opinion Is Ricky Stuart the most overrated coach ever?

Apparently it was 'of the cuff'. Not sure how that makes it any better but that was his excuse lol

His comment had nothing to do with netball. He could've said ping pong. Fact is NRL is a f**kton tougher than any non-contact sport so they're probably a fair shout for a quick analogy. He f**ked up by saying a predominantly female sport.

I got no doubt pro netballers are a tough breed who sacrifice a lot. Just by the nature of the sports though I'm sure an WNRL coach asks more from their players.

I have no connections with the inner workings of the Raiders so this can be taken with a grain of salt. What has been said is that the rot with the English players started with Bateman and spread to the other pommies. They feel they are being rorted by the Raiders with value of their contracts. They have apparently learnt the likes of Croker and a few others are on much more coin and that has not sat well with them considering they are pretty much the back bone of the side. This is not an attempt to troll and may of been mentioned earlier in this huge thread. Take it as you will.

JB is gone already, George's departure back home at the end of this year is all but a given. Hodgson is said to be probably leaving at seasons end too, so there wont be many of them left

It'll just be Sutton and the young fella Ruston, who's probably 12 months off NRL footy still left.

Imagine if Ricky wasn't battling homesick poms, cranky player girlfriends, netballers and Jarrod Croker.

Top 8? Pffft, Top dog bitches.

what a load of horseshit.

Hodgson and whitehead are two of the clubs highest earners and are already on more than Croker. Williams didn’t come across on a pittance, unproven in the nrl where English halves have usually failed. Canberra were going to give him a contract extension and hefty pay bump due to his performances anyway.

Nah it’s indicative of the way our society treats and thinks of women. Sure this comment by itself isn’t a huge deal but it is part of a greater problem.
The real issue is (& it has been overlooked) is that his comment had absolutely zero to do with the toughness of netball. It's been reported he said "If I can't have tough conversations with my better players, I may as well coach netball".

So the netball fraternity were upset that Ricky didn't think the coaches could have tough conversations with their players. He made no mention of it being a tough sport. Yes his comments have some connotations of sexism (even that is a slight stretch). The outrage has been a massive over reaction IMO.

You know what the English are like, they would sook about anything. Get the most money. Still Sook. Get all the glory and all the publicity. Still Sook. Get all the best facilities in the Club. Still Sook. It is the non English players at the Canberra Raiders who are "sick and tired" of what is going on there. The blood and stone of the Club has been torn apart by the pommie invasion. and blokes like Crocker and Big Joshy P are sick and tired of being the scapegoats for the sooky sooky la la English. Rule Britannia and all. But these blokes are killing this once great, proud Club and Sticky can do nothing except sit back and watch and blame netball.

Sticky should stick to what he knows which is how to harrass the media and leave netball alone. i have seen some very good netball players crying at half time and after the game because of the assessment their coaches have given them on their nails and skin and general appearances.

Sticky needs to concentrate on what he does best; which is looking confused and like the whole world is against him; which it is.

I guess we will see. As I said take it with a grain of salt. I don’t get the feeling you’re in Don Jnr and Ricky’s inner circle either. So keep that bucket and shovel at the ready!

Pretty strong connotations of sexism really. And he deserved blow back. I heard him say it live in the presser and chuckled as I knew that wouldn't be the end of it. Whether the outrage is a massive over reaction, well that entirely depends on a person's perspective. If I was a net-baller with a public profile I'd just call him out for being a nob-end and that move on. Sticky is the gift that keeps on giving.

It has been reported that Hodgson was one of the highest paid Raiders until Wighton got an upgrade.
