Opinion Is Ricky Stuart the most overrated coach ever?

I can't remember a season in which so many stinking f**king games happened early season. Another absolute bludger last night in Canberra. Such low quality.

The by product of people only looking at the rules being the issue. If they looked at the ordinary clubs then they fix this issue sooner

Sticky whinging about Savage after the last game then names him in the starting side. Not the accepted way for a coach to build a young players confidence I wouldn't think.

Being a smartass though, naming him on the wing.. Savage was killing it last season at fullback the few games he played.

The funny thing is, with all the issues that the Tigers have had, the one area I actually think Maguire had been doing a stellar job was that he always stood by players. A player who was not performing doesn't need to be thrown under the bus publicly in a post-game conference.

It just carries on the narrative that Stuart never accepts responsibility for his coaching failures. It's individual players' faults, it's the injuries, it's the fact he doesn't have Origin players, etc.

I think Stuart would have had some reassuring words with Savage during the week. It's hard to know if what Stuart says to the media is the same as what he tells his players. I would be surprised (and appalled) if it is.

If that's the case, I think that's even worse.

"Hey Savage, I know I threw you under the bus publicly in the post-game presser, but keep your head up and keep working hard. I just don't want to publicly back you, because then they'll blame me for the teams performances".

We know the pressure of being a league player is bad enough, and Stuart has publicly put even more pressure on him.
