They both went for the ball
It wasn't a tackle
Just as much as Mead deliberately tried to drop him on his head.Because Oates deliberately placed himself in that position?
Try again.
What crapI agree it wasn't a tackle.
But it was a collision and Oates ended up in a dangerous position.
Just as much as Mead deliberately tried to drop him on his head.
Sorry bud, but you aren't exactly the height of impartiality
He wasn't place anywhereWho said anything about Mead's intent?
The penalty was for Oates being placed in a dangerous position as a result of the collision with David Mead.
He wasn't place anywhere
He fell on his own head after catching the ball
Then dropped it
Should've been Titans ball
Placed is the operative word, he wasn't placed as he wasn't tackled. It was a collision of two players going for the ball. If it had ended up with the Titans player on his head do you think the penalty would have gone the other way?As a result of the collision with David Mead.
Would Oates have ended up in a dangerous position if it wasn't for Mead's presence, yes or no?

Mead is entitled to go for the football. The rule is about tackling a player in mid air which simply didn't happen.
Jesus. I can't believe Perth Red is talking sense.
The penalty wasn't for a mid-air tackle.
It was for putting Oates into a dangerous position.

Oates got into a dangerous position because he a) jumped for the ball and b) because he landed on mead who was also going for the ball. I hate quoting Gould but Mead just can't disappear. It was an accident, thankfully oates wasn't hurt, get up and play the ball. The penalty wasn't for a mid-air tackle.
