I hate to curse the possibility into a reality, but if it ended up being a Manly- Brisbane Grand Final, would you bother to watch it?

I think this years winners could and should be considered one of the greatest teams ever. Not because of the skill or ability (Melbourne of 2007 for example would beat any team this year IMO) but for the fact they will win one of the most highly contested and toughest finals series of all time.

I think every team besides Newcastle could win it.

If Manly or Brisbane win the comp then the year will be completely ruined for me. Anyone else and it will be somewhat tolerable. Wouldn't mind seeing the Dragons get up, just because its been 30 years and with the other merged entity being less competitive but still having won a comp, they really should be able to win atleast one themselves. Having said that if Titans win it then I'll be happy for Campbell, if Dogs win it then what a great turnaround, if Storm win it then it'd be good because it would upset alot of people here. Knights or Eels are ok, but no team's won it from 7 or 8 and I can't see that changing this year. For me its 6 tolerable clubs against 2 untolerable clubs. Don't let the maroon and white or maroon and gold filth win it! go the other 6

f**k you're a sad little girl.

First heavy weight bout:
Blue corner: Melbourne Storm
vs
Red corner: Manly-Warringah-inbred sea faring birds.

I hate to say it , but one of these teams will be premiers.

Melbourne to continue the Dynnnaaaasty!!!

Lets get it on!!

Winning 1 comp in succession is hardly a dynasty.

I will send an email to both Manly and Brisbane requesting them to throw their games to save you from possibly crying and throwing your toys around the house.

brisbane cant win it because of the 50 point rule. No team has won the premiership after conceding 50 points in a game during the season.

The 50 point "rule" might still be valid, but one day it wont. Just like no team had won outside the top 3 (in the final 5 format) and Canberra did it in 1989 from 4th and the Broncos did it from 5th in 1993.
The Dogs won from 6th place (lowest ever position) in the top 8 format in 1995.

"Rules" are meant to be broken

I'm not so sure this finals series is going to be as unpredictable and exciting as everyone thinks.

I can't see too many upsets (and I mean upsets with the bookies, not in terms of where they finished on the ladder), and IMO there will be quite a few blow outs.

Still, I would love to be proven wrong. The first ever golden point grand final is my wish :D

Newcastle I feel is the let down for the 8. I think a team like the Tigers would of been better, however thats how the dice is rolled. Good Luck to all!
 A let down?

I think some people forget that the Knights have beaten the Dragons (at home), the Bulldogs, The Titans, the Eagles, the Storm and the Broncos this year. The Knights well and truly deserve their spot in the 8.
Precisely.

gotta agree its like whoever won 2day wud be the dreg team to be put in wit all da other 'contendors'
Get your hand off it. Please?

Makes no sense, the best 8 teams made it the Knights are a much better side then the Tigers and deserve their spot
The Knights made the finals because we won more games than the Tigers. It's a results-driven industry :)

And lost to just about every team outside the top 8 except the Sharks. I guess interpretation of the Knights depends on the individual and whether or not they're a glass half empty or glass half full kind of person.

At the end of the day the Knights ended up on 30 points, the Tigers 28 so I fail to see how the Tigers deserve to be in the 8 ahead of the Knights.

I can see the Knights pushing the Dogs all the way, and that's if they don't beat them. The Knights have the players to beat the Dogs who look pretty vulnerable without Kimmorley.

Looking at the matches it could be a brutal final series. I think every team outside of the top 2 should be taking the sudden death attitude this week because this year there's no sure thing. Wouldn't be surprised in the least to see the loser of Storm V Manly drop out.
We should be right, because none of those bogey bottom-half of the comp sides will be participating ...

umm cos knights beat tigers or??

i sero rekon dat melb choked da game gainst newwy so they can make top 8 cos they r the laughin stock of nrl
So, remind me, what are the Tigers doing this weekend?

Can no one see how we lift for the big games? Time and time again we have lifted for the big games and won them. Continue to write us off - much prefer we fly under the radar through the finals to be honest...
Agree wholeheartedly.

Maybe in those big games the other teams were below their best because they didn't see Newcastle as a big game? Finals football is a different level and while I can see them beating the Dogs, I don't think the Knights have it in them to lift to that level for 4 straight weeks. A lot of young raw talent that still needs a year or two to be able to do that.

The Knights may have shown they can beat any team on their day, but inconsistency is a killer, plus if De Gois is out then good luck to you.
Keep saying we're no chance. I like it.

Much better? You won one more game than they did and they have a much better F/A. You guys limped into the final 8 on the back of a very impressive first half of the season. I would argue that at the moment the Tigers are a better team. Perhaps they should have been more consistent throughout the season.
At the moment the Tigers are a better team? We've won 3 of our last 4 and the Tigers have won 2 of their last 4 ...

Every team besides us, even though we've beaten all the top six sides this year?

Yet you have lost to a heap of the teams outside the 8. So your point is?
I think the point is the teams outside the 8 won't be there for the next month.

Honestly JD, I wouldn't take that much notice of it, considering most of the knockers are the ones tipping the Knights to take the Dogs....
Logic suggests that if a team is a let down, they aren't expected to win games.....

There's always a 'whipping boy' of the finals and this year it looks like the Knights, probably because of jealousy of other fans.
*cough* Tigers *cough*.

Well my point is if you cant be consistent enough to beat the crap teams as well as the good teams than you wont be consistent enough to win the next 4 games and therefore the comp. Hard to argue with that, but im sure you will...
