Make him fight her dad as punishment.

Said something similar about Lui. He and "Slammin Sam" Backo should have had some quiet time together.

Once again......alcohol plays it's part in the demise of another promising RL talent

One thing to hit a woman, another thing to hit a pregnant one.

Scum.

Both are equally sumbagish.......don't see how you can differentiate between the two tbh

Pregnant V not prego.......both are all sorts of wrong.

Young men/players with money to burn and a horde of hangers-on seemingly find it impossible to restrain themselves.

The clubs of these players have an obligation to teach these young men on the where's and whys of the totality of what they've done wrong

NOT simply cut them loose.

A contract with a club is no different to a contract with a business. There is a basic character requirement.
indeed......so these blokes should never be hired again anywhere...
....

The law is there for a reason........you all expect...footy players to be angels..it makes me sick.

Not picking on you....

My point is if the bloke is so bad he will be in jail.

The Nrl needs to understand...they are not the cops and need to aim at performance enhancing drugs.

The rest is for the law to deal with.

FFS. What does hitting a woman have to do with "surviving". If he was caught robbing a petrol station in his teens to feed himself, then you'd have a point. But what he did had nothing to do with "surviving".
Being a copper you should know how stupid that statement is.

  • You should know that Australia's welfare and charity system does not let children starve.
  • Teenagers do not eat petrol.

Well BM says he can never work for anywhere attempting to attract women. So....mens only gay bar or a church seem to be his only options.

So selling BM cruisers at his local is a viable option.
No wonder he wants him banned.

Obviously.

But bashing a preggers chick is obviously worse.

so who gets assaulted....is what matters?

Violence is unacceptable regardless the victim.

This is why we have a system to deal it.....it aint a business of sports entertainment.

ffs move to Cuba you caaaarrrnts.

On topic, if Anthony Cherrington is permitted to continue playing after what he did, then it's pretty clear that the NRL has taken the stand that they don't deregister players for domestic matters, irregardless of their severity.

Metcalf was a long time ago. I spose it comes down to how long you continue to punish someone for the one crime they committ. If you stop former criminals from trying to earn a living then they're going to have no choice but to keep committing crimes in order to survive.
I'm all for rehabilitation, but the nature of the crime has to count for something.

In Metcalf's case, attempted murder of his unborn child by kicking his girlfriend in the belly, almost killing her in the proces, goes a bit beyond the Robert Lui, GI or Isaac Gordon's of this world...

The fact that the NRL accepted his registration shows that any thug is welcome to play rugby according to this administration, which is why this doesn't surprise me in the least.

He did his crime, and he served his time. Should he be banned from everything for life despite having already completed his punishment?

Which part of me being all for rehabilitation, did you not understand?

But giving a cushy NRL player job to an attempted murderer just goes a bit too far for me. To make it clear, I'm talking about Metcalf here!

He's more than welcome to work in the mines or construction for a living, not within an organisation which not only needs to clear its reputation, but is an example for a lot of kids growing up.

When the NRL lets the above happen, what moral right do they have to do anything to people like Lui, GI or Gordon?

So you're all for rehabilitation, but upon completion of said rehabilitation you're also for further punishment for the offender?

I'm not trying to defend what Metcalf did, but he served his time. His debt to society over that incident, as reprehensible as it was, is over.

Sure, he'll never be able to get a job where he needs a security clearance now, but there's no pre-requisite for NRL players to not have criminal records.
