How about just wrapping up his legs? Why does he have to go kamikaze?

Simply because the ruck is where the game is decided.

You go in slow and the player is called held while standing or on their way down and you effectively have three players taken out of the play for the next ruck as there is a high likelihood of at least one, if not both, the markers being infective or not making position and the third man wont make the line.

"Chopping" the player means the guy is on the ground in a more dominant way which means the officials generally give more leeway with the wrestle in the ruck and the defensive line gets a chance to set properly

I seriously don't know how you can defend such a tackle, especially when someone has to get an MRI afterwards

I never tried defending what Lussick did, but seems the Kiwi fans think it is fine to defend cannonballing at players legs when held upright.

As long as it is not illegal it is fine, luckily the ref had the common sense to realise that, and I'm not a Kiwi fan.

So you think the tackle isn't dirty and dangerous? That is what I'm asking, not if it is legal or not.

Is there a rule in cricket that specifically says that you can't attack the fielders with a cricket bat? (if there is I need a new example but you get the point)

Just because it's not specifically against the rules doesn't make it ok to do something dangerous and against the spirit of the game.

Any tackle can be dangerous, that's the price that comes with playing a contact sport, and if I thought it was dirty I wouldn't be defending it, would I? The quickest way to stop a guys momentum is to take his legs.

How is a cricket bat anything like making a tackle? Would you prefer everyone just shirt gra? But then someone might break a nail, heaven forbid. Harden the f**k up.

No rules broken, the injury is very unfortunate but all injuries are.

Should it be outlawed? Probably. Until that day comes, play on.

If it aint illegal it aint dirty. Is any tackle dangerous? Ofcourse, any tackle in rugby league could potentially be dangerous its a contact sport

There is a far difference between some of the tackles down low that we have seen from Luke for example, then others. Luke leads with his shoulder with all his force into the legs, whilst simply wrapping up the legs would suffice. The tactic needs to out lawed like the Melbourne wrestling tactics, it is fine if players use their arms to wrap up the legs, but they shouldn't use their shoulders. all these tactics of trying to win the ruck and getting the player to the ground quickly, will lead to a serious injury soon.

Yes, let's ban players using their shoulders and turn it into a shirt grabbing fest, why hasn't anyone thought of that before?
