just about the worse outcome you can have would be to destroy 5 years of brand development and what little credibility NRL sides have on the GC after previous failures. Better outcome would be an investment by the ARLC under the proviso that a strong governance system and new board be implemented. The Titans have a strong fanbase and corporate support, why would you throw that away to start again?
farkin farcical the NRL allowed them in and continue to compete without the organisation having a proper corporate governance setup. No doubt, a proper setup would not have allowed an ego-driven rogue commit to a project such as the cost of the CoE so early in the organisation's life.
and i cant believe the articles in the media today stated that one of the NRL's options are to let the Titans die. WTF? This is the 4th attempt at branding a GC team at the highest level of rugby league, and despite this setback, I'd say the Titans brand is still relatively strong. If this shit is left to fester into the season though, well then it will drag it through the mud and that's what the club and the NRL can ill afford, particularly with the Suns having great setup with mgmt rights to their ground, and having much of the promotion and pr controlled by the AFL.
This stuff up comes back to the NRL. With a 4th attempt at making a team on GC work, they shouldve taken more responsibility in the clubs foundations and ensured there was effective oversight into the business and investments of the organisation rather than leave it in the hands of one bloke.
And there is no way I'll believe that the Titans will be profitable medium to long term with crowds under 15k at a venue they pay $300k in rental from Stadiums QLD. The honeymoon up there is over, especially if they have another season like last year.
