NZ need to start winning if they are any chance of being a dark horse in the world cup.

Be interesting to see how Bennett goes today.

Well, yes, I suppose, but we just lost a series to Bangladesh 0-4 and India 0-5, so nobody is too excited.

Would be good to get a win today and get a monkey off our back- a series win would be all the better in the build up to the world cup.

It will be interesting to see what affect Allan Donald's arrival will have on the bowling

Still scratching my head at Franklin opening the bowling. Vettori said at the toss that he'd be bowling a bit more in this series, but he's hardly a spearhead.

Probably just to have a left/right arm opening combination. Especially when Southee and Bennet are pretty similar bowlers except Southee does swing it.

i see in the build up they talked about the possibility of experimenting with opening the bowling with a spinner in this series....

i cant see much of a difference to be honest... Vettori wouldn't be much slower... i doubt he will get any more turn than Franklin would.

I suppose it makes sense for Franklin and Oram to bowl early considering there's no doubt that pace is not going to be a feature in our world cup bid.

how terrible is it that Big Jake is now considered a bowling all-rounder... i know hes been in poor form with the bat...

but for the amount of talent he has with the bat... i remember his test century at the Gabba... its a great shame to see his batting falling this badly.

Mills was one of the best one day bowlers in the world a year or so back, I don't think it matters at all if you only bowl at high 120's in ODI cricket.
