Also guys like Doorey and Greig are not used to the speed of NRL. I love how Pou says you get fit in pre season yet every player will talk about it never being the same as match fitness.
Match fitness is about timing, not fitness. In round one no merkin is match fit.

Melbun were, their line speed and kick chase didn’t let up all night.
That's because of the type of player they recruit. Focusing on toilers, especially in the pack, means you get good linespeed and kick chase. With high effort players you don't need to constantly ride them about things like effort areas and chasing the collision.

But also they made heaps of dumb errors. That's because they were fit but not 'match fit'.

Or they just train harder than we do???? Its no fluke they have won 21 round 1 games in a row.

Why do you think we would we train any less hard than them? Some players train harder than others (look at Gutherson winning everything every year). How hard a player trains is up to him. If you recruit better trainers they'll train harder. If you recruit faster merkins they'll run faster, etc etc. If you need size you don't prescribe more weights and protein, you go out and recruit it. It's the same with toilers.

Hopgood was struggling late ... the game winning try may have at least partly been cos he was knackered. But everyone looked knackered.

Agree murchie got too many minutes and maybe maka could have had some of them in the middle. But did murchie end up on an edge? Maka cant play edge.

We had about 15 mins where we lost Will and Lume and had forwards playing both centres.
yeah Maka wasn't knackered lol

Those at the ground would have seen the world’s biggest tool, NAS, waving and smiling at the Eels fans immediately after the golden point try. Badly Drawn has captured that moment for eternity.

You don't get it. The key to success is signing plodders and toilers that want to train hard. What is so hard to understand.
I would say most plodders don't train hard. Some plodders are toilers (e.g. Gutherson and Fisher-Harris) but they are not necessarily the same thing.

Why is NAS so protected?

He almost decapitated Makatoa last year, and wasn't even suspended for it.

I've got no problems with it. Let him have his moment.

You sound like Tommy Raudonikis. "Just train harder you f**ken shit bag gutless dog merkins".
Exactly!! Run harder and tackle harder FFS!!

And then after training drink and be a mad merkin harder!! I mean let’s face it we have a coach who is straight from the 70’s tactically so why not do everything else from that decade.

The game was actually quite complex then. Borrowed a lot of shit from Grid iron. Had the wall, the switcheroo, the flick shift and the pineapple to name a few.
