Goodwin isn't going to be the difference

completely disagree
Bronx Goodwin or any real fullback is playing for us last night, and there is at least 4 tries that arnt scored by manly. We gift wrapped at least 4 tries through poor positioning and communication at the back by our fullback. And thats not to have a shot at chalk, he was one of our best in offence, but he is not a fullbacks arsehole and hasnt been since elliott moved him to the second row.

Fair opinion, but I don't think throwing in a rookie fullback is the difference between a 26 point loss and a win. On top of that I don't think you can blame Chalk for conceding 4 tries - to pin that on one player is bullsh*t. When your wingers do their job they can make the fullback look like a genius - when they don't he can look like a bum.

I think some people forget that Goodwin was only really on fire for the second half of last season in Premier League. He's untested at first grade and IMO Zillman is a better player anyway.

I'd love it if Bronx comes in and plays a blinder when he's fit - but I think that's a crazy expectation.

It was the same thing with Schif - the fact he saved us a couple of tries each game papered over the cracks we had in the centres. Don't expect Bronx to be the difference.

No, you misunderstand, i dont blame chalk at all, he did his best, and he is the best fullback option available to us at the moment, he is just not a fullback any more, thats not his fault, that is our former coaches fault. Bronx is strong defensively and positionally, which is exactly what we missed last night, there was no communication at the back and chalk cant read the play well enough, orford took full advantage of that. I dont think if we had bronx we'd have won, no way in the world, but it wouldnt have been that ugly.

Just remember 2 of them manly trys were scored off a colin best mistake firstly that kick down field from orford than best tried to ground the ball or something??
Than in the second half he tried to bat the ball back or something to benny jones.

If we would of held onto the ball and expanded our attack, things would of been alot different
Things to work on are,our backs positioning, missing that many tackles and obviously our handling errors.

we missed the players that were out

inject Zillman for Purtell Goodwin For Chalk Weyman for Turner and Learoyd Lars for Jones

You're kidding aren't you? Purtell is the last person that should be replaced, closely followed by Turner. Ben Jones should be there next week too.

Can you tell me why Purtell should be dropped and not Best or Howell? Best let in what 4 or 5 tries down his wing, if that was Purts, the poor fella would be hung. Stats obviously don't tell the full story, though i will inform you of a few things.

- Purtell and Graham were the only backs to make over 100 metres, Miller the only forward.
- David Howell missed more than 1/5 of his tackles (5/24)
- Ben Jones made 38 tackles, 9 hitups and 75 metres

I also want to ask you why you would want to bring Zillman in on the wing? He's a 5/8, centre or fullback.

imo this is Elliot's fault, Henry cant be expected to turn the Raiders around so quick. But when we do win a game, it's all Henry.

Chalk sucks haha

I'll give them 3 more games.

If there's not an adequate improvement in performance,
that's when my abuse of management starts.

Man, you said if we had a "real" fullback manly don't score 4 of their tries. I know what you were trying to say, and maybe yes Bronx will help, but I don't think it does anything to exaggerate Chalk's errors. Yes, he made some mistakes but on the whole he was one of our better players IMO.

Anyway, it's a moot point as he's not even back until rd 4-5 or something.

Boys serioulsy,

All the people calling for mass sackings, bringing back super coach and not holding much hope for us this season can serioulsy p!ss off for the whole season - you can't be a real fan. I mean were we meant to go through the whole season with out dropping a game? f**k, the way some people are carrying on you would have thought we lost 12 in a row or something.

Now I went up for the game I can tell you it's not a bad as some people on here are saying - but sure it wasn't good.

I thought we did well in the first half, made a few busts and all of Manly try's came of kicks ( we we need to work on ) The most disapointing thing is that we clocked off towards the end and manly really put us away.

Is really disapointing that I get home from Sydney this morning to get on here to find out people just bagging the team after round one. I think it's sad...... you guys must have something better to do surly.

I cant believe how many guys here are doing a henny penny already.

One game does not a season make.

We gifted Manly that win through some poor handling and atrocious kicking. Manly had a bit of luck as well with their kicking game, but we cant ignore that they were without some key players as well.

My point is, we have some very good players to come back in (TLL, Weyman) who will make a big difference. Todd and Dobbo tried hard but lacked a bit of composure. I'm sure Neil Henry will drag them aside and reassure them that they have the ability. They will improve and their kicking game and 5th tackle options will improve as well.

We competed with Manly for most of the match. We let them win thru our errors and poor options. There were some positive signs in the game. (We didnt play as bad as Penrith or Cronulla, OMG they were woeful).

I concur with my mate TR. In about 5-6 weeks you will see some vast improvement in the team. Mainly due to getting some balance in the squad and some cohesion in key positions. Give it time boys, give it time.

We will get there, this time last year we were about to cop the worst loss in the clubs history and then another heavy loss with our "experienced" players.

This group of players have some talent. They need time to gel and get used to each other.

Having said that, some mistakes that were made were bloody ordinary. *Best*

I'll tell you why Purtell Should be dropped, he is f____ing useless. I can't understand why he has been given so much opportunity over guys like Milne. Personally I would get rid of him and Best and let them force there way back in to the side. Despite what some people say about Frawley I would be bringing him in as well. Backline of Chalk, Graham, Frawley, Howell, Milne, Carney & Dobson looks a lot more threatening than the current one.

I do agree however re Zillman imo he is selected in the halves or on the bench instead of Dunneman, we can't afford to have both. Tongue and Costigan can cover for Withers.

Wow, so many conflicting opinions on different individual performances.

I thought Purtell was good, he showed good energy and looked to have more speed than last year. He outshone his wing partner Colin Best by a long way - possibly the worst Raiders debut of all time. Where was the effort?

Frustrating night and I'm putting it down to that - a million stoppages, video ref at every opportunity, the lights went out... it was a long night where no momentum could be gained.

We also didn't get opened up at all... Manly never came flying downfield off a long break, all their tries were from kicks. Settle down guys. Yes we need a better defensive read but it wasn't a disaster from every perspective (just some )

What gives you the right to tell people how they should support their team??

Not all of us are blind optimists.
