Crystal Ball (A).
End of season operations review = JD out the door.
Mary given 8 games to show his goods in 2017.
Announcement on the big screen Anzac Day game to say Mary gone.
In the meantime Ivan Cleary signs with another team.
Millward appointed caretaker coach for rest of season.
After Mary axing the players respond for the next game and Millward signs on as head coach for 3 years with an option for a fourth year in his favour.
Dragons fans suffer for the entire decade after the win in 2010.

Crystal Ball (B).
Dragons sign Ivan Cleary to a 3 year contract starting season 2017 this week.
The excitement of a new Coach inspires all our junior talent to commit to the Red V for the next 2-3 years headed by the resigning of local junior talent Luciano Leilua until the end of 2020.
James Segeyaro signs on for 3 years, Milne and Aitken extended 2 years each.
Player Managers are reaching out to Dragons about possibilities of joining the Red V mid season 2017 and beyond.
Cronulla' Jack Bird asks for a release from the Sharks who are out of the finals race in straight sets and joins the Red V on a four year deal.
Membership biggest since Bennett era.
Forum goes into meltdown from all the positive posts about the bright future of the Dragons.
The Dragons focus there attention on a positive attacking brand of footy in 2017 in which crowds flock back to the Dragons newly agreed two home grounds of Kogarah and Wollongong.

You could make a movie on this Sh!t.

Once again we're linked to someone, albeit this time a coach. Like most here, I would be over the moon to see a coach of Ivan Cleary's standing, coach our club.
But, as we've all seen and heard before; "Hiku firmly in Dragon's sights"; "Dragons favourite to get Coote's signature"; "James Roberts' management impressed with Dragon's"; Keary to sign with Dragons"; "Dragons make $2.4 Million multi year offer to Norman". And now it's, "Ivan Cleary to coach St George in 2017 and beyond". Let's not get too carried away with this one, because, if wrong, I think the tears will flow thicker and faster than they did when the others proved to be pipe dreams and absolute shite.
Remember, our club has become toxic to prospective players, and quite possibly to prospective coaches. Its not just Mary that has caused players to steer clear of us like the plague. It's also the dickheads running the joint. Doust, the Board and the so-called Recruitment and Retention team, Millward and Harron (who have done a spectacular job in the last 2 years). These incompetents have been responsible for our financial blow out, for appointing 2 head coaches with no experience and nothing to bring to the team, allowing Brett Morris and Trent Merrin to leave the club, for not recognising the huge potential Jack Bird and Jackson Hastings have and allowing them to ply their trade elsewhere. And it's on the cards we will lose Luciano Leilua due to their mismanagement. Of course, like I mentioned above, recruitment has been appalling. We haven't signed a top tier player for quite sometime and are content to pay overs for players other teams don't want.
The club is a basket case, and to be perfectly honest, if I was Ivan Cleary, I'd rather be unemployed than get involved with the RedV.
It pains me to say it, but I see no light at the end of the tunnel until Doust and the Board are removed, and the members are able to vote for the Board and the CEO is made accountable.
God, and hopefully, Ivan Cleary, Save Our Saints![/QUOTE

]Isn't it the bloke we got from Manly that heads up recruitment ?

I have a feeling that we may get Cleary for 2017, the sign came in the way of myself crossing paths with him 2 weeks ago in a Random place, we both looked at each other whilst he was chuckling smiling with his partner, looking back now with whats happening, maybe it was a sign from God, all will be fine.

Why would anyone be surprised.

The whole rugby league community knows the Dragons are basically treading water.

Why would any coach want to come to that.

Club like ours with plenty of juniors could do worse than having Brian Smith hired in some capacity.

Not sure about head coach. Wonder if he'd be any good in a roster building and management role?

Souths just signed 2 new assistant coaches so I cant see Madge going anywhere in the short term.
Long term is another story and he may be alreasy on notice.

I'm flabbergasted at why the players continue to support him... There must be so much more to the situation than meets the eye.

I'm going to throw it out there, is Mary the true problem and being played as the scapegoat? I still struggle to believe that if he really was as bad as it seems why the current roster of people like Rein and Benji still want contracts... and those players who have agreed have also re-signed? Surely player movements would speak volumes on what the general opinion of his abilities are?

I'm not defending him as our performance this year has been woeful, it just makes me think there is more to it.

Dugan basically stated the club line. It sounded like PR spin to me. The line at the end that Mary has the support of those that matter is a worry. Mary is the problem but so are the board. Mary has shown after taking over from Price in 2014 that he's not up to it tactically. Mary coaches the side, not the board. Both are part of the problem.

Saw the same interview and wondered the same thing. Is Mary the root cause of the teams problems, or is there more to it than that. Thought about it for a few minutes and yes I think he is. Rein and Benji wanting contracts? Well that's because they are on good money and won't get the same anywhere else. Ditto Widdop, Dugan, De Belin etc. Plus Mary never drops any senior player. He is extremely loyal to them. It took him most of the season before he dropped Lafai. Benji just played the most error-riddled game you are likely to see and he isn't dropped. So yes, the senior players like him because they know they won't get dropped. Performances aren't criticised, its always the tries off kicks, or we had several players out or we've had to travel. He gives them ready made excuses to exonerate their performances. The downside is the juniors are neglected. They aren't given a go and its only in the last couple of weeks that promising juniors have been offered contracts.

In short, the players probably like MacGregor. They probably like ice cream too, but it doesn't mean its good for them

You really think any said player will come out and berate their coach on national TV? Players always give the most generic of answers it does not mean anything! Would you tell your boss to their face they are a complete idiot and your embarrassed to work for them? No because you have a mortgage to pay and kids to feed.

It is suspicious that so many players are coming out supporting Mary, there is something going on in the club

In the past I have, and now I'm in his role. Again I'm not singing Mary's praises, merely asking the question

The players came out and said the same thing about Price. As mentioned it's what's expected of the players. You can pretty much take it with a grain of salt
