I don't think he is. If the rest of the roster is maybe RCG would have been anyway but as it stands he already was like that 6 months before.

Fitness I can put on Ivan. The rest of the roster was making the same errors last year and the year before, Just this year we didn't have Peach etc to pull out the wins at the end. So I put the blame on the players but it is Ivan's job to fix it

To be fair to Griffin no one blamed him for RCG from memory. Everyone seems to agree it was the injuries that effected his form.

The injuries made it worse, but his form declined before them.

His whole start to 2018, bar one game was average.

To me it looks like 2017 was a flash in the pan. And compared to other top props it wasn’t even that good.

I haven't checked his stats but that sounds plausible. He had a few months of popularity.

Prior to the injury, in 13 rounds of footy, he averaged 95m a game.

that was down from 130m the previous year.

After the injury he averaged 92m a game.

So it didn’t even impact him that much.

(these numbers don’t include the game he was injured in)

Where’d you get 155m from?

Fox says 119m in 2017

From memory NRL.com said 130m. (His listing isn’t available on nrl.com at the moment, I think because of the team change)

RL project has 3636m over 24 games
Can you go back in Fox sports stats now? That is more precise so that one is better to use

Oh well if we were all just losing our shit like you on this forum i’m sure the club would be much more successful.
You had me worried there. I had to check. It's Ok, I haven't lost my shit, it's still where I left it.

RCG’s 2018 form was even worse than you think of you consider he only played 2 mins less per game than 2017, and he ran for 30 meters less. (25 when you take out the game he was injured in)

Even this year he improved his overall meters from 2017, but he ran for less meters per run. So I’d say he regressed again.

in 2017 he had 9.75m per run

in 2018 it was 9.1

and in 2019 it fell to 8.59

The problem in 2018 was mostly a lack of involvement, when he did run it was ok.

in 2019 the problem wasn’t lack of involvement, it was lack of impact.

I think you missed the point. I'm not upset nobody got picked, because they are good enough. We don't have anybody good enough. That's not the same as saying we don't have talent. They aren't good enough because of the terrible coaching, fitness training and man management they get at our club.
So who did we have in the Australian team last year that Ivan has destroyed with his terrible coaching, fitness training etc?

Unfit is on the coach the rest of those is on the player or playing group as a whole

Not sure about that. The attitude across the board seemed off which would make you assume the whole preseason (fitness included) missed the mark considerably which falls on the coach. I don’t think it was just a matter if not doing enough laps etc.

It is up to the players to do extras and to push each other though. The coach can put the plan in but if the players are only going at it half arsed then it fails

We weren't fit enough to start the year you cant deny that and it does fall on the coach.

I will say Waqa Blakes drop off in form and speed was a lot more than not being fit enough, he went from one of the fastest in the league to about equal with Isaah Yeo in pace and IMO looked quite disinterested for a lot of his games for us this year. There were bigger problems than just fitness but not being fit is pretty f**king poor at this level. Good thing is it wont happen again, and the problems in the squad seem to have been worked out now with everyone on the same page it will make a big difference going forward.
