I'm catching up with Jack's old man over the weekend so I will be finding out the facts rather than the fiction

Let him know if he was concerned about his welfare he shouldn't have bad mouthed the Sharks in the media who have bent over backwards to accomodate his needs and wants.

And tell him he's an ungrateful prick who has now just heaped even more pressure on his son because of it may have jeopardised his position in the team for the rest of the year.

I'll eat my hat if he gets dropped.

I couldn't care less if he spent the last couple of weeks of the season playing for Newtown. Ungrateful, over-rated dick.

Jack Bird — and his father — both say the Cronulla star will honour his contract with the Brisbane Broncos and head north in 2018.

The 22-year-old signed a deal with the Queensland club worth a reported $4 million over four years earlier in the season, but rumours have been swirling he was having second thoughts about the move.

Those rumours have been shut down after the centre and his dad both confirmed Bird’s intention play under Wayne Bennett next year.

“All I know is that I’m gonna finish off the season strongly with Cronulla and I am really looking forward to going to Brisbane next year,” Bird told the Courier Mail.

Bird’s father Mick told Josh Massoud there’s no doubt about what jersey his son will be wearing in 2018.

“I speak to Jack all the time and he’s really looking forward to joining the Broncos and he’s just confused by it all,” Mick said.

“Like any 22-year-old he’s nervous about a big move but not once has ever mentioned not wanting to go. It’s all a bit weird.”

Mick also said the pair have had a “gutful” over how the Sharks have treated the young gun since he inked his Broncos deal less than a year after winning a premiership with the Sydney club.

“The Sharks have been at him ever since he signed with the Broncos, they haven’t left him alone and myself and Jack have had a gutful,” he told the Courier Mail.

Media is just trying to destabilise sharks camp I definitely wouldn't look into it too much. Bird doesn't seem like a bad guy. Out of form, yes, but I don't think he would be one to shit talk the club he won a grand final with.

This exact same thing happened to Souths in 2015. Except sharks are going much better and look on track.

Yes you can see where Jack has got his attitude and smarts from now.

Both are in for a rude shock when he goes to Brisbane next season.

Wayne Bennett likes playing mind games with his players. See how he copes with that.

I was also going to say typical media destabilisation as we approach the business end of the season. The merkins also did it to Wests Tigers in 2014 and succeeded in getting Mick Potter booted from his coaching job.

As for the air fare and accommodation in Brisbane, I am sure the club budgets for travel for only the essential personnel. Jack is injured and it is not essential for him to be up in Brisbane for this game, hence to free ride. None of those merkins in the media would care to point out this fundamental normal business practice.

let me guess do you think that Bennett would have given Bird special privlidges if he had decided to go and play with the Sharks would Bird's father come out criticise the the Broncos, we all remember how Bennett reacted when Hodgers went to the Roosters

I agree unless your club is a media darling as in one team city or someone like Roosters/Rabbits, you get treated differently.

Yesterday the media ripping into Dogs re players being shopped around, is it true or not no one really knows, but the media love to stir the pot.

The media have never liked us and once again here is a chance to rip in once again

He is a good talent but with a big ego and as someone mentioned above, we may be able to see where it comes from now!

As for dropping him, i would be interested to know our record with and without Bird this year. I know we have had a couple of good wins without him.

The old man is a bit of a rent a quote. Plays right into the journos hands. Its great when they spin it how you want but when they don't.......

When things go to shit at the Broncos old mate will be cannon fodder for the dickheads at the courier mail.
